The Ravens won 34-20 against the Cincinnati Bengals, but it came at a high price. While the fans rejoiced over the victory and the team stayed on top of the AFC North, Mark Andrews had a hard time coming to grips with reality after he suffered a very serious ankle injury.

In a post-game presser, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh provided a much-needed update on the TE’s condition. Unfortunately, Andrews‘s prospects are grim, as the Ravens might have to proceed in the playoffs without him. The win has also lowered the chances of the Bengals making it to the playoffs 10 fold.

The Ravens HC came forth and announced that Mark Andrews has a serious ankle injury. He is ruled out for the season. Per Harbaugh, this is very heartbreaking for Andrews, and he expressed his support to the TE and said that the whole team is with him through thick and thin. John Harbaugh and the team offer their prayers to Andrews for his quick recovery.

“Nobody cares more about the team and being there for the guys and Mark Andrews, so it’s gonna be hard for him but we’re gonna be there for him all the way,” Harbaugh said in the presser.

The injury occurred in the first quarter after Andrews had a successful reception from Lamar Jackson. It was 1st and 10, and the TE caught the ball and started running. He dodged one of the Bengals and kept running, but just a second later, Logan Wilson pounced on him and executed a hip-drop tackle. Mark Andrews went down and lay on the ground with his hands shaking. He was seen walking with crutches to the locker room. The X-rays revealed that Andrews had an ankle injury.

The tackle is proving to be a nuisance to all the teams in the NFL and some owners and executives are not having it. Following the game, Mike McDaniels also shared his thoughts about the controversial move.

The hip-drop tackle is a controversial move. Many fans, players, and coaches consider it cowardly. The NFL executive, Jeff Miller, doubled down on his concerns and argued in a meeting that the NFL should ban this move. Why? The hip-drop tackle increases the chances of injuries and may amplify the damage 25x.

There have been a lot of drop tackle-related injuries this season. While some people oppose it, others think it is a part of the game and shouldn’t be overruled. It makes sense, just like the brotherly shove. It only works out when the Eagles do it, but when others try to sneak in their quarterbacks in the enemy lines, they end up getting injured. Team owners also contest the brotherly shove, but till now, no action has been taken to ban it. And the same goes for the hip-drop tackle.
