When it comes to injury updates, all eyes are on Malik Nabers. There’s been a lot of chatter about his progress, but let’s just say that Giants fans are holding their breath for the latest intel.
Brian Daboll gave the scoop on Malik Nabers’ status via Giants Videos on X, saying, “He’s doing better.” The WR is still in concussion protocol but is taking steps in the right direction. Daboll elaborated, “He’s still in the [concussion] protocol to do some stuff outside with the trainer staff, so day to day. We came out here on the grass today. He didn’t do that last week.” Those words have the Big Blue faithful hoping their star wideout’s on the mend.
Nabers’ dedication to his recovery is clear, with Daboll adding, “He’s feeling better, taking it all seriously and going through each step.” The head coach kept it real with cautious optimism, closing with, “Let’s see how it goes after he does some activity on the grass.”

The 21-year-old suffered a concussion in Week 4. He missed Week 5’s Thursday Night Football game against Big D—and even with a 10-day gap, it wasn’t enough for Nabers to get cleared. Now, his ultimate focus remains on getting back in action for the Bengals game on Sunday Night Football.
Malik Nabers has been a beast this season—35 receptions despite sitting out Week 5. His first four pro games were phenomenal—with two 100-yard outings and a target share of 34.4%. No WRs commanded his QB’s attention more. If he’s undeniably a limited participant in Wednesday’s practice, the odds are seemingly good for a Week 6 return.
The leading question remains: Who will step up in his absence if Nabers can’t go?
Top three WRs who could replace Malik Nabers
Finding Malik Nabers’ replacement ain’t easy, but we’ve got some names.
- Darnell Mooney, Atlanta Falcons (48% Rostered on Yahoo)
First up, Darnell Mooney—9 receptions on 16 targets, two TDs, and 105 yards against the Bucs. You might want to lock him down ASAP if he’s still on your waiver wire after his Week 5 breakout. With Atlanta squaring off against Carolina in Week 6 (who rank third-worst in EPA per pass allowed), WR Mooney’s hard to ignore.

- Jalen Tolbert, Dallas Cowboys (7% Rostered)
Next on the list is Jalen Tolbert—10 targets, seven catches, 87 yards, and a game-winning TD against the Steel City in Week 5. With Brandin Cooks on IR, Tolbert’s now locked in as Dak Prescott’s WR2. Facing a Lions defense in Week 6, with a game total set at a juicy 52.5 points, Tolbert’s set to get plenty of action.
- Darius Slayton, New York Giants (3% Rostered)
