Patrick Mahomes and his Kansas City Chiefs wrapped up the 2024 regular season with just two losses. It became one of those nine teams in NFL history who have won more than 15 regular season games. Now that the Arrowhead team is again aiming for the Super Bowl after two back-to-back rings, the NFL legend took a subtle dig at the Chiefs’ NFL schedule.
During the Thursday episode of The Rich Eisen Show podcast, the NFL legend and analyst Luke Kuechly joined the host. Kuechly said that he believes good teams like the Chiefs know how to win, even when things seem routine. Taking a subtle dig at their schedule, the 33-year-old said, “I sometimes think, do they get bored playing in the regular season? Do they get bored traveling on the road and playing a one o’clock game in the middle of the season in October. When they know we’re going to win our division, we’re gonna have a couple of home games. And then the ultimate goal is to get to the Super Bowl?” That’s an awesome question to ask from the Chiefs.

However, the victory can’t be achieved without the key players. Similarly, the Chiefs too have some special players in the roster, making the difference. Hence, praising them, Luke Kuechly pointed out that having players like Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce makes a difference. Even if Kelce seems quiet during some games, he steps up when needed.
Additionally, as per the analyst, Chris Jones and the defense are strong, and the Chiefs just know how to switch into high gear when it counts. When Eisen asked if teams get bored during the regular season, Luke didn’t fully agree or disagree but admitted it’s possible. He imagined the Chiefs, dominating their division, might sometimes coast through the early parts of games. And they only turn it on when necessary, especially knowing their ultimate goal is the Super Bowl. Yes! The ultimate goal is their 3-peat, and Travis Kelce will love to beat any team that comes his way this time.
Patrick Mahomes’s buddy Travis Kelce cleared the Bengals’s elimination rumors?
The Chiefs played their Week 18 game without their key players like Travis Kelce, Chris Jones and Patrick Mahomes. Hence, they suffered a huge loss against the Broncos without scoring any points to Denver’s 38 on January 5. With this shutout, they didn’t harm their playoff seed, but they eventually helped eliminate the Bengals out of the season. Well, that’s what the rumors are saying.

The Bengals finished the season with a 9-8 record, falling short of the playoffs consecutively for the second time. Nevertheless, they still wanted the Chiefs to beat the Broncos, so that the Bengals get a chance to clinch the playoff berth. But as the Chiefs lost with a 0, their hopes died there. So, after this, many started speculating that Patrick Mahomes’s team intentionally lost that game to eliminate Cincinnati. However, that’s not true as per Travis Kelce.
On Jan 7, Kelce said on the New Heights podcast, “I ain’t scared of f––g nobody. I wanted them in the f––g playoffs. I’ll play them at the Walmart parking lot. I don’t give a s–t. We can have our own game in the offseason. I love competing against the greatest. The Bengals were a fun a–s f––ng team to watch there towards the end of the season.”
Kelce made it clear that the Chiefs do not shy away from playing against any team, be it strong or weak. Nevertheless, fans now await to see what Patrick Mahomes’s team will bring this playoff season.
