Brock Purdy looked sensational throughout the season. In his second year as a pro, after being ‘Mr. Irrelevant’ at the 2022 NFL Draft, he was on the fast track to become the MVP. But in his first matchup against a great defensive unit, he buckled. Now legendary sports anchor Rob Parker is not letting him go off easily.
The Christmas Day game of the San Francisco 49ers vs the Baltimore Ravens was a matchup of top teams from each conference. It was supposed to be a battle of the finest in all the league. But the Ravens made it look easy winning by 33-19 and in the process, made QB Purdy look average.

By any metric one looks at, Purdy had a terrible game. He was intercepted a whopping 4 times in the game by the Ravens backline while scoring zero TDs. And now the critics are out and about, including 59-year-old Rob Parker.
“He (Purdy) finally played a great defense and looked like tuna fish,” said Parker. The 24-year-old’s confidence must have even slumped further when backup QB Sam Darnold stepped in and scored a TD in the fourth quarter.
Parker, therefore, was quick to point out the confidence issues that Purdy must be dealing with after such a horrific performance. “The only thing he has to do is deliver and now there’s doubt,” said Parker about Purdy. But there is still ample time for him and the team to make amends.
The road forward for the 49ers
Brock Purdy and Co. must put their focus back on the field. There are still 2 more games left in the regular season and the team should not daydream their playoff games. The 49ers will be on the road for their Week 17 matchup against the Washington Commanders. It will be a very important game for them.

Not only can the 49ers’ offense including Purdy, wreak havoc on the underperforming and already eliminated Commanders. But a win here will guarantee the top-seed position for the 49ers in the playoffs. Something they seriously need after this harrowing loss against the top-level competition.
