The Cincinnati Bengals did not have a fruitful 2024 season! Despite having a strong offense, the Bengals could not secure their AFC wild-card spot. Since then, Bengals coach Zac Taylor has been making efforts to improve the defense. Regrettably, the Bengals missed the playoffs with a 9-8 record and ranked 30th in rushing offense. But, key Bengals players, including Joe Burrow and WRs Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, did not fail to make an impact with their season performances. Nonetheless, it was not enough to help the Bengals bring a winning season. Despite public comments from the former to hold on to the latter two, it looks like it won’t be happening.

Disappointed Bengals even squandered 28 y.o. Burrow’s significant contributions. The highly talented NFL QB led the Bengals to the AFC Championship and Super Bowl in 2022. Given that, American influencer and wrestler Logan Paul is not happy with this. The famous YouTuber, who has over 23 million subscribers, trolled Cincinnati over their treatment of Burrow during a WWE Monday Night Raw show. American sports analyst Pat McAfee highlighted Paul’s strong message through a post.

Taking to his official X handle, former football punter, McAfee shared the glimpses of Logan, 29’s strong message on Burrow. “Joe Burrow has made it to a Super Bowl,” the sports analyst quoted in his post caption. In the video, Logan shares his thoughts that Cincinnati is wasting Joe Burrow’s talent. “I see what’s happening here. You all dont respect talent. You guys waste talent. Just look at What You Did To Joe Burrow,” the wrestler iterated.

Those are some strong words, but definitely apt ones. Burrow was in the MVP race last year (even if distant from the leaders). Impressively, he posted 43 TDS and 4,918 air miles. During the final phase of the season, Joe recorded at least three touchdowns in eight straight games. The Bengals ended up sixth in scoring with an average of 27.8 points per game. But, depressingly, Burrow’s squad lost seven games to playoff teams after a Week 1 loss to the Patriots.

The franchise struggled over the line, barely making it a winning season. They missed out on the playoffs despite a late run and are now set to lose at least one key offensive weapon. Hence the Bengals QB has been demanding a stronger team to be built around him and for the top players to be compensated and kept long-term. “We’ve got to play better early on,” Burrow stated at the start of the month. “Whatever it takes to do that, whether it’s preseason reps, joint practices, guys taking the offseason more seriously. I don’t know what it is, but we’ll have those discussions to try to get that fixed.”

Taking after his remarks, Paul trolled Cincinnati, supporting Joe Borrow. There are speculations that WRs Tee Higgins and Ja’Marr Chase and defensive end Trey Hendrickson’s future is uncertain with the team as the team has not offered a good extension deal. Amidst player exit rumors, coach Taylor has been trying to improve the defense. In his latest move, Taylor, 41, has hired longtime ex-Rams senior defensive coach Sean Desai, according to ESPN reporter Jeremy Fowler.

Joe Burrow’s Bengals hires ex- Rams defensive assistant Sean Desai

The team’s issues persisted on the defensive side when Lou Anarumo was in charge. The Bengals’ defense finished in the bottom 10 in terms of both defensive yards and points per game. Hence, Cincinnati replaced him with the former Notre Dame defensive coordinator Al Golden.

And now, the team hired former Rams’ Defensive Assistant Sean Desai to maintain their standing among the elites in the AFC. With Desai’s joining, it is quite clear that the Bengals are all set to reshape their defensive staff this offseason. Desai has a remarkable career in the NFL as he left many surprised during his tenure with the Eagles in 2023 and the Bears in 2021 upholding his DC job. Not only this but his significant contribution as the defensive assistant with the Seattle Seahawks in 2022 can not be ignored.

The Bengals’ defense needs to be improved a great deal to match up to the performance standards of AFC’s elite teams. With Golden now in charge, veterans like Desai are expected to play a major role in the transformation. Can they ride Joe Burrow’s talent to a Super Bowl win?
