The Detroit Lions are on a historic run and are rewriting the history books. Under head coach Dan Campbell, the Lions have been thriving. But for the title of NFC Championship, they need to take on the mighty San Francisco 49ers next. And the HC made a shocking revelation about the preparation for the big match, regarding the 49ers’ tapes.

Head coach Campbell linked up with the Lions in 2021, again. Previously, he played as TE for the team in 2006-2008. And his linkup has been terrifically successful. But will the lack of preparation come back to bite him next?

Dan Campbell remains truthful

The former Super Bowl winner with the New Orleans Saints, was in a jovial mood when he conducted his press conference. The Lions overtook the risky Tampa Bay Buccaneers, defeating them 31-23. And the dream continues for the team from Michigan.

However, at the press conference, the HC was asked about his preparations for the 49ers. With a game just a week away, it is natural for coaches to study their potential matchups well before the game. But that isn’t the case with Campbell.

“Yeah I haven’t”, said a nonchalant Campbell, but he defended himself as well. “Other than just crossover tape that I’ve seen throughout the year”, said Campbell on the tapes situation. “I haven’t been able to get to them yet. I’ve been trying to put this game and then other things to bed”, further said Campbell. But the fans would expect that with other things now done, the HC will focus on the 49ers.

Old rivalry reignited

The Lions and the 49ers are one of the oldest teams in the league. Competing against each other since 1950, they have taken on each other 68 times. With the 49ers leading the series 39-28-1. But this dormant rivalry will be center stage once again.

Since the Super Bowl was introduced in 1967, the Lions have failed to win it. This season is the first time since 1957 that the Lions have managed to win back-to-back playoff games. So a rivalry that had lost its meaning in yesteryears, is back to the forefront now!
