Does Ben Johnson have an elder wand or something? Well, considering the teams are going behind him for a head coaching role, it seems so. Now, it would be a matter of time before Johnson gets a head coach post. And if he leads the Detroit Lions to Super Bowl glory, it’s cherry on the top. And for the teams? It’s more of a ‘scratch your head’ moment. Is it the Raiders or the Bears? Who’s gonna get their hands on Johnson?

Speaking of the Bears, the team is apparently chatting with the Lions’ offensive coordinator about some possible moves. But before anything is set in stone, Amon-Ra St. Brown dropped a little bombshell—directed right at Bears QB, Caleb Williams. Yeah, you read that right. During his St. Brown Podcast with his elder brother, Equanimeous St. Brown, the Lions’ wide receiver gave a cryptic message to Johnson.

“Just so you know, I told Ben, Caleb is fu–ing trash,” St. Brown started. “Like, you don’t want to go there. That’s what I told Ben.” That’s one strong message to spice things up in the Bears locker room, especially for Williams who had a tough rookie season. See, the Bears drafted Williams in the first overall pick in the NFL 2024 draft and they might have hoped for Williams’ to be the one who would finally bring in good news.

However, just the hype hit for the Bears and the reality didn’t even show up to the party. Williams wrapped up his season with a mixed bag after the team’s 5-12 exit from the season. He recorded over 3,500 passing yards and nearly 500 rushing yards. But the question is, why does St. Brown believe that the QB is trash? Well, as it appears, the WR has an answer.

“I don’t know what he’s (Johnson) gonna do with that information,” St. Brown continued. “I said, Caleb’s a diva. He’s a selfish mother—-er. He’s going to want everything on his own. Like (he) thinks, he’s the smartest guy in the world, not coachable. So Ben, he already knows what the deal is.” Now whether Ben Johnson takes this chatter into account before making his next big move remains to be seen.

But one thing’s for sure, the Bears are in a bit of scramble. With Johnson likely on the verge of landing his first head coaching gig, the teams circling around him are hoping to unlock that magical formula for success. But let’s be real for a moment. If St. Brown’s comments are anything to go by, the Bears might just want to rethink their QB situation before making any more high-profile decisions. Because, at the end of the day, it’s all about finding the right pieces of the puzzles and right now the Bears seem to miss a few key edges in their puzzle.

Is Ben Johnson coming to Chicago?

Now, let’s talk about the big picture here. Last year, the Lions‘ offensive coordinator announced that he wants to coach an NFL team sometime. Since then, Johnson raised the bar for a head coaching vacancy among the teams who are looking for a new head coach. As for the Chicago team, Ben Johnson has found his name among the two-horse race for the HC gig along with Mike McCarthy.

According to Fox Sports’ Jordan Schultz, Johnson, McCarthy, and Ryan Flores are in talks with the Bears for the HC post. “For all intents and purposes, the Chicago job, it is a two-horse race between Mike McCarthy and Ben Johnson,” Schultz said. “I think if Ryan Flores goes in and wows them, then he is still in that mix. But right now, I think McCarthy and I think Ben Johnson are the two leading candidates for Chicago.”

After parting ways with the Dallas Cowboys, McCarthy interviewed by the Bears this Wednesday. And Johnson?, Well, the Lions’ OC’s done with his interview over the weekend. As the Chicago team is looking to train their QB, Williams, it is likely that they want to go ahead with an offensive-minded head coach. Speaking of the offensive-minded, Johnson’s grabbing the attention throughout the season as the Lions’ OC.

Under Ben Johnson’s offensive leadership, the Lions had a good season offensively. They broke some serious records, racking up 6,962 total net yards, 564 points, 70 touchdowns, and a point differential of plus-222. That folks, is not just good; it’s historic. And no wonder the Bears are all in for getting Johnson on board as their next head coach.
