This NFL season is at that point where Breaking Bad was in 2013. At its peak. It has action on the field, rivalries in the postseason, and the drama that is becoming interesting with each passing day. But hold up. The Jacksonville Jaguars came up with a much-awaited twist that will make you go, “are u serious”? I mean, amidst the GM drama and after missing out on the Lions‘ OC, Ben Johnson, the Jaguars finally roped in Liam Coen as their next head coach.

Now, the newest Jaguar has released an official statement after taking the helm, or should we say, he released a goodbye message to Todd Bowles and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers“Becoming the head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars is an opportunity of a lifetime, and one that I am going to run with to instill a championship culture and winning tradition here in Duval. This doesn’t happen without the support and opportunities that my family and I have been afforded throughout my career, especially during this past season in Tampa Bay.”

“We thank Todd Bowles for his continued support and the entire Buccaneers organization for the experience and know they will have success ahead. Most of all, we are grateful to Shad Khan for his belief in what we will bring to the Jaguars. We will work tirelessly to reward his confidence. As head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars, I will hire a first-class coaching staff, establish a distinctive and effective brand of football on both sides of the ball, and our players will live for the black and teal. Shad and Jaguars fans should expect nothing less, and that’s what we plan to deliver and more. My wife Ashley and our family are honored to be there and a part of the Jacksonville community. We are ready to get to work.”

But here’s where things get interesting. A couple of days before putting pen to paper, Coen reportedly agreed to sign a record-breaking contract extension with the Bucs. Say the deal was almost $4.5 million a year. Now, here’s the kicker. The OC started ghosting Todd Bowles and Co. The reason? Pretty predictable!

Liam Coen was in Jacksonville discussing an even better deal. Being the head coach of the Jaguars. But nah, it wasn’t easy to grab a deal for him. See, Coen gave his first interview, but later it was reported that he had withdrawn his name for the second interview. Now, the reason seems to be the ex-general manager of the Jaguars, Trent Baalke. Because the front office of the Jaguars fired Baalke on Wednesday. And guess what? Coen was now ready for the second interview.

Is Liam Coen the answer to the Jaguars’ struggles?

Have an interesting take?

It’s safe to say that the offensive coordinators are thriving this season. First, Ben Johnson (signed by the Bears), and now Liam Coen, who is a new entry to the Jaguars. But one question still remains on top. Is he gonna transform the Jaguars’ offense? Because Jaguars’s O-line had been consistently inconsistent this season.

Looking at his track record, it seems he can. Because Baker Mayfield and the Bucs thrived under Coen’s offensive leadership. Tampa Bay ranked third in total offense and fourth in scoring. And Mayfield? Well, the guy was a beast throughout the season. He recorded a top-notch career-high 4,500 passing yards with 41 touchdowns, and an insane 71.4% completion rate.

But the Jaguars don’t have any Mayfield to lead them to glory. According to Coen, the Jaguars’ players and the fans should expect nothing less than success. To achieve that, Coen’s gotta transform Trevor Lawrence into a beast like Mayfield, if we’re being honest. The guy wrapped up his season on a poor note with 2-8 as he recorded 2,045 yards with 11 touchdowns in the regular season.

The Jaguars are letting Liam Coen choose the next general manager after firing Baalke. He’s gonna choose the best coaching staff for the team in the following season. So, we can hope that Coen can do what Doug Pederson couldn’t do. Lead the Jaguars to a successful season. Period!
