Remember that movie, when life threw a knockout punch, but the hero got back up, dusted off, and came out swinging harder than ever? Well, there are many like that, but why think of some movies when football has its own inspiring story? Yeah, we’re talking about Teddy Bridgewater, who entered the NFL with a bang, was knocked out due to a gruesome knee injury, and is now ready to go back on the field.
The former Vikings’ QB has recently appeared on Ryan Clark’s, The Pivot Podcast, and just with his one sentence, anyone can understand how bad that injury was for Bridgewater. “The entire bottom half of my leg was one way, & my foot was another way, and it was just dangling,” the former NFL legend stated.
Let’s rewind a bit to August 30, 2016, on the Vikings’ practice field. Bridgewater was all prepared for what could have been his breakout season with the Minnesota team. But picture this: Teddy goes for a routine play-action fake with Adrian Peterson, but when his left leg hits the ground, it just gives out, completely. And truth be told, we’re not talking about a simple sprain here.

His ACL was shredded as well. “Teammates & coaches won’t tell what they saw. His then Head Coach Mike Zimmer likened it to the death of a loved one, & his trainers thought he could lose his leg,” Clark wrote on his ‘X’ handle while sharing a clip of his podcast.
After playing the last of his few seasons for the Broncos, Dolphins, and Lions, the QB announced his retirement.
Teddy Bridgewater plans to return to the Gridiron
As they say, “You can take the quarterback out of the game, but you can’t take the game out of the quarterback,” the same goes with Teddy Bridgewater. After that career-ending injury, it’s his time to give back to the football community. The former Viking had stepped up as the head coach of the Miami Northwestern, the same place where he started his career.
And guess what? The success came along. Under his leadership, Teddy led his high school team to finish with an impressive 12-2 record. Well, that wasn’t the end of his mentoring till now. The team later went on to win the Division 3A Florida High School Athletic Association state title, that too with a dominating 41-0 victory.
