Home/NFL

Let’s be honest with ourselves: When Tom Brady picked the Raiders out of all 32 NFL franchises, some of you were probably a bit jealous. I mean, who doesn’t want the GOAT around? Yes, Brady hasn’t yet proven himself as a successful NFL owner. But we all knew deep down his influence in the game was always going to play a larger role. Just because of what he did on the gridiron will always give him an edge as an owner. And something like that is already happening with the Raiders possible pursuit of Matthew Stafford.

On Sunday, Vegas Nation Reporter Vincent Bonsignore said something on X that will surely bring a smile to the Raiders Nation’s faces. “The persuasiveness of Tom Brady as a recruiter for the @Raiders. It will make things interesting during free agency. And maybe even in the trade market. It’s why you can’t rule out Matthew Stafford as an option.” Surprised? Not really. Brady has never been the one to give up, anyway. From his 4th quarter comebacks to winning seven Super Bowls, you cannot take Brady lightly until the clock hits zero.

So, considering Matthew Stafford is still at a crossroads in LA with a constant restructuring of his $160M contract, there’s a feeling Brady could poach Stafford for a possible trade. See, the Rams have already given permission to Stafford to seek a feasible trade. However, it wouldn’t be easy at all, even for the GOAT. The Rams have made it clear they want a first-round pick and more to give up Stafford. Here’s the thing: The Raiders do have a No.6 overall for this year’s NFL draft. And a QB room that consists of failures like Gardner Minshew, Aidan O’Connell, and Desmond Ridder. All of whom started, but the Raiders never got the lift, eventually finishing 4-13.

Ideally, they could bring Stafford, who clearly can be a short-term solution, like their coach Pete Carroll. Yet giving up a first-round pick for a QB who is already getting shouts of retirement won’t be a wise move for Brady. And you know the Raiders Nation probably wouldn’t want that either. Yes, they might not be able to draft a QB like Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward, who will be gone by the time the Raiders name is announced in Indy. What they can do is look somewhere else, probably the likes of Russell Wilson or Aaron Rodgers.

As for the Rams, they could be heading for a completely different route. Something that the Rams Nation could object to—Will Levis in LA.

Is the Rams preparing for another Matthew Stafford-like arc?

See, Stafford did spend 12 seasons in Detroit, but honestly, he was never a part of One Pride Nation. So, when they traded him to LA in return for Jared Goff, Stafford instantly proved his Detroit doubters wrong—winning Super Bowl LVI in his first year as a Rams QB. Well, four seasons from that incredible Super Bowl journey, Stafford has also lost some of his respect in LA. With him almost certain to search for a new home, the Rams could try another Stafford story. This might raise some eyebrows, but hear me out. Titans QB Will Levis to Rams might make sense.

What’s your perspective on:

Can Tom Brady's magic as a recruiter bring Matthew Stafford to the Raiders and change their fate?

Have an interesting take?

There’s a growing feeling Tennessee is looking away from Levis, whom they picked 33rd overall in 2023. And if the Titans do go over a new QB, Levis will require a change of scenery. Enter the Rams; they could easily snatch him away with a midround pick, potentially a 3rd or 4th. Levis, in his two years at Music City, only boasts a record of 5-16. He has been hugely underwhelming, to say the least. However, in his rookie year, Levis did look like a QB for whom the sky was the limit.

Throwing 8 TDs against only 4 INTs while racking up 1,808 passing yards, Levis showed he had the potential. Then, with the installment of Brian Callahan and OC Nick Holtz last year, the whole Titans offense took a nosedive. Players like Derrick Henry and DeAndre Hopkins all left, and the Titans—well, they finished as the 6th worst-ranked offense. Levis never settled in Callahan or Holtz’s offensive schemes. So, maybe Sean McVay could help him discover that untapped potential.

While there can be an argument about whether Levis’ case can still be worked or not is another story, at least the Rams could take a gamble, considering Stafford might not return. And who knows if Levis does turn out to be Stafford 2.0, then, we might see another Comeback Story being written in LA.
