Lamar Jackson calling out gambling—Is he the hero the NFL needs right now?

The Baltimore Ravens are on a comeback spree after losing their first two games of this season. Since winning their first win game against the Cowboys last week, the Ravens have pulled off a stunning victory against the high-flying Bills this Sunday. Well, it was made possible courtesy of Lamar Jackson, who finished with 13-of-18 passes, but his 156 yards may have drawn some unnecessary attention.

His night in Baltimore was somewhat quiet, considering the output he produces in every game. Although the Ravens did win their second straight game, some sports bettors may not be happy with Jackson’s lack of yardage. Some of them were calling out their “parlay’s ain’t hit” last night, which Jackson seemingly went on a rant about, “This is a TEAM sport. I’m not out here satisfied when I threw for 300 yards but took an L. If I throw for 50 yards and we WIN, that’s wtf matters. Y’all stop commenting on our socials about the yds y’ll parleys ain’t hit.”

Since that rant on gambling, a $35 billion Sportsbook Company gave a hilarious response where they acted surprised at getting the blame. However, this isn’t the first time when the NFL has experienced gambling during matches. Going back to the start of this NFL offseason, there were five gambling-related bans dished out by the league. Four Detroit Lions players, Jameson Williams, Stanley Berryhill, Quintez Cephus, and C.J. Moore found themselves suspended on gambling charges.

This led to Berryhill, Cephus, and Moore’s eventual release from the Lions roster. Elsewhere, the NFL announced their fifth gambling suspension on Commanders defensive end Shaka Toney last season. Over the years, the NFL has maintained a strong hand against sports betting, where players have been strictly prohibited from doing such activities.

Even Tom Brady released an educational video that spoke against the integrity of players gambling on NFL games. It seemingly destroys the foundation of this league while its reputation gets tarnished across the globe. Therefore, seeing Lamar Jackson speak against gambling sends a strong message to bettors out there. Even though the reigning NFL MVP found himself criticized for lack of yardage, his team was simply brilliant last night.

Baltimore Ravens snaps Buffalo Bills three-game winning start to this season

The Bills were running high on confidence visiting the shores of Baltimore this week. However, they got a reality check as the Ravens snapped their 43 regular season games run without a loss by a margin of six or more points. Their last heavy defeat came back in 2021 against the Colts, where they lost by 41-15. But it wasn’t the only record broken by the Ravens as the Bills faced their first defeat after a run of eight regular season wins stretching back to last season.

On the night when Lamar Jackson wasn’t in his scintillating form, Henry was a beast. He racked up 199 rushing yards that eloped his 151 last week against the Cowboys. His contributions didn’t end there, as he recorded 24 carries with a solitary touchdown. But the Ravens RB wasn’t satisfied when he failed to reach 200 yards due to a fumble, “That’s going to haunt me.”

Even Jackson spoke highly of the 30-year-old, “If he gets into the secondary, he’s pretty much gone. And it’s hard to catch him because he’s fast. He’s not just a powerful back.” The Ravens ended their night in Baltimore by scoring 427 yards compared to 236 by the Bills. However, will they manage to continue this run, as the games are only going to get tougher down the line? For now, they can celebrate this win until the next challenge arrives in Cincinnati.
