NFL games aren’t always serious as is evident from the “poop-gate” that happened in 2020. The Baltimore Ravens needed a miracle, and their quarterback Lamar Jackson became their savior, but with a twist – which fans recall as one of the top funny moments of the league.

In the latest episode of ‘Green Light with Chris Long’ podcast, the Ravens fullback Patrick Ricard joined the hosts Long and Nate for football, the 2023 loss against the Chiefs, and a fun conversation. During the conversation, Ricard applauded his quarterback’s unique movement in the pocket, which motivated the team to play harder. Along with this, the 30-year-old recalled the funny 2020 “poop-gate” incident of Jackson, that made everyone in the room laugh.

Patrick Ricard shared a memorable moment from a game against the Cleveland Browns, on December 15, 2020, known as “poop-gate.” On explaining to Chris Long about what happened, Ricard recalled Lamar Jackson’s dramatic return to the field like “Moses” to save his Ravens. According to the Biblical text, “When the Israelites reached the Red Sea Moses stretched out his hand and the waters divided, allowing his followers safe passage.”

Ricard, in the podcast, expressed,He’s (Lamar Jackson) all of a sudden gets injured with something and I stand with Lamar. He was cramping.” The fullback further added that Jackson left the Browns’ game suddenly due to those cramps, leaving the team in a tough spot without their starter quarterback. He informed the hosts that the situation worsened when their second-string quarterback got injured, nearly forcing them to use a receiver as their quarterback.

The 30-year-old continued, “We’re having like Willie Snead, who’s a receiver like taking snaps to be our third-string quarterback because we had no one else.” Ricard again added that just in time, Jackson made a dramatic entrance from the tunnel. He said, “But all of a sudden, it’s fourth down and you just see Lamar coming out of the tunnel like, he’s like Moses the Red Seas parting, he was just running through and he got on the field” throwing a touchdown pass to Hollywood Brown, ultimately leading the team to the victory 47-42.

This incident became viral on the internet, with many fans thinking that Jackson allegedly left the game in the middle as he went to “poop.” Thus, since then, this moment is known as “poop-gate” or “poop-game.” But the question is: Does Lamar Jackson indeed go to the bathroom?

He clarified that it was calf cramps that sent him to the locker room. The quarterback said, “I started cramping on the field. The two passes I threw, right before those passes to Willie and Mark, the overthrows, I was cramping (in) my throwing arm.” He added that his legs also started cramping, and hence, he left the field to get treatment and stretch in the locker room.

Nevertheless, the team won, and the NFL fans got one viral and hilarious story to recall and laugh about for ages.
