Let the chaos begin! Matthew Stafford and the Rams are finally sitting down for the talk. You know, the one where they figure out if they’re breaking up, rekindling the spark, or just staying together for the cap hit. Yes, that’s happening now amidst the strong Raiders and Giants interest.
According to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, the two sides will meet today, with a decision “expected soon.” That’s a loaded phrase, considering Stafford has already flirted with both the Raiders and Giants—two teams reportedly ready to throw $90M+ his way.
And here’s where it gets interesting. The Raiders have allegedly found common ground with Stafford on contract terms. But they refuse to part with their No. 6 pick. “At all costs.” So, uh… how exactly do they plan on getting him? Manifestation? A strongly worded letter to the Rams?

Because unless Vegas is offering up more magic tricks than a Carroll halftime speech, Stafford ain’t boarding that Allegiant Airlines flight just yet.
The Rams are set to meet with Matthew Stafford at their facility in person today regarding his future, per sources.
The Raiders and Giants have discussed a two-year contract for Stafford that includes $90-100M guaranteed.

Meanwhile, the Giants are lurking. USA Today’s Art Stapleton says New York is right there in terms of contract structure, just like the Raiders. Momentum had been swinging toward Vegas—until it wasn’t. Suddenly, a return to L.A. doesn’t sound so far-fetched. Sure, the Big Blue would want to utilize their No. 3 overall. However, just do not sleep on a 37-year-old whose coming off 20 TDs and 8 INTs.
But let’s be real: if Stafford wanted to stay, would we even be having this conversation?
The Rams now have a decision to make. Do they entertain these offers, try to milk more out of desperate QB-needy teams, or find a way to keep Stafford happy without unloading an even bigger Brinks truck? This saga has officially entered soap opera territory, and at this point, all that’s missing is a dramatic cliffhanger.
So, what’s it gonna be? Rams, Raiders, Giants—someone’s making a move soon. And if not, well, enjoy another week of Stafford trade theories.
Another theory: Matthew Stafford to Indy?
Indianapolis, are you ready for this? Because there’s a theory floating around that Matthew Stafford in a Colts jersey actually makes sense. Yeah, yeah, the Rams haven’t made a move yet, but Colts GM Chris Ballard just said Anthony Richardson will have to compete for the starting job. So, uh… compete against who exactly?
Here’s the thing—Stafford’s market is heating up. The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reported last week that his camp was checking out potential suitors, and now, we’ve got legit chatter about the Colts being in the mix. And why not? Since 2016, teams like Philly and San Francisco have admitted their QB mistakes and still made Super Bowl runs. The Eagles dumped Carson Wentz for Jalen Hurts. The Niners replaced Trey Lance with Brock Purdy. Indy took Richardson fourth overall in 2023, but are they already eyeing a similar pivot?

Former Super Bowl champ Damien Woody sure thinks so. “Forget all this Anthony Richardson competition,” he said on Get Up. “You’ve seen this guy every day in your building. It’s time to move on.” And honestly? He might be onto something. The AFC South isn’t exactly a quarterback gauntlet, and Stafford’s already 4-2 against this division since landing in L.A. He’d go from battling the 49ers and Seahawks to playing in a division that hasn’t sent a team to the Super Bowl since 2009.
And let’s not forget—Indy’s loaded on offense. Jonathan Taylor, Michael Pittman Jr., Alec Pierce… sound familiar? Because when Stafford landed in L.A., he had similar firepower—and won a Super Bowl in Year 1. That blueprint worked once. Could it work again?

If Ballard and Steichen are feeling the heat, a Stafford trade might just be the lifeline they need. The question is—will they make the call, or will another team swoop in first?
