The Chiefs’ fans have been over the moon and celebrating their second consecutive win. But the San Francisco 49ers have been facing the heat for their performance after the showdown in the Super Bowl. At the eye of the storm lies head coach Kyle Shanahan, who has to answer a lot of questions after suffering a third defeat at the championship.
With fans and sports analysts already expressing their opinions about Shanahan online, Rob Parker has a bold take on the matter. Getting straight to the point, he expressed that if he was a sports columnist for the 49ers, he would bluntly call for the firing of the head coach. He further explained the reasoning behind his strong stance.

In a conversation with Chris Broussard for Fox Sports Radio, Rob Parker had a strong opinion about Kyle Shanahan’s failure to ensure victory for the 49ers. He said, “If I was a columnist in San Francisco, I would write that Kyle Shanahan needs to be fired.” This strongly worded statement left Broussard appalled, and the host exclaimed, “Wow, fired?”
Parker defended his sentiment by citing Shanahan’s repeated failed attempts at the Super Bowl because of a lack of flexibility in strategy. He talked about the HC’s previous two stints at the championship and feels it’s the lack of change on his part that’s responsible for his team’s downfall. He further compared the coach’s situation to the former LA Chargers’ HC, Brandon Staley, who lost his position because of the same reason.
“I get it, he’s been to the Super Bowl twice in four years and they’ve won all these games, but you can’t watch the same thing over and over and think it’s going to change. We’ve seen this. [Brandon] Staley wound up losing his gig because he wouldn’t adjust. You can’t keep doing the same thing and not figure it out.”
The sports journalist blames Shanahan for “making wrong decisions over and over again” and failing to understand the importance of reducing the Chiefs’ running time.

Parker expressed that letting the “double-digit lead” go to waste. And it being a repeated pattern for Kyle Shanahan, is enough grounds for his departure from the team. He feels that if the coach had been careful about winning time, then there was a possibility that Patrick Mahomes wouldn’t have been able to make a comeback for the Chiefs, and the results could have been different.

“You could have a ‘philosophy’ but there’s a thing called ‘winning time’. You talk about being ‘out-coached’, there’s also a thing about just making wrong decisions over and over, and in these games – up 7 points with ten minutes to go [28-3] – you gotta understand that the more time you can eat off the clock, Tom Brady can’t come back and beat you, Patrick Mahomes can’t come back to beat you if you limit the amount of times they have by running the football. I’m not saying change everything you’ve ever done and play scared, but people are watching going ‘WHAT IS THIS?’ Seven times in NFL Super Bowl history where you blow a double-digit lead and he’s done it three times in the last eight years?? There’s a problem there.”
