It was a visual for the Faithful in the week 15 game of the 49ers against the Rams. The team desperately needed a win. Hence, after spending 10 months in recovery, their linebacker, Dre Greenlaw, played his first game in the 2024 season. But his stay on the gridiron was short-lived. He left the game after halftime, making 8 tackles (3 solo) while playing.

During the post-game conference, HC Kyle Shanahan opened up on their LB and revealed that he left the field because of Achilles and knee soreness, along with fatigue. He said, “Just with his Achilles and knees just fatigue a little bit and soreness so he didn’t return.” But he overruled any major concern. It means that we could expect him to be available in the next few games. However, the team included other players in their playing members, too.

DE Nick Bosa missed 3 games after injuring his hip/oblique during the week 11 game against the Seahawks. Similarly, RB Isaac Guerendo was also listed as doubtful for the week 15 game. However, there were hopes for both of them to play in the game, as they did practice with the team on Wednesday.

Like Dre Greenlaw, Nick Bosa also didn’t play in the complete game and walked off the field. Though he remained on the sidelines, he didn’t return to the game. It remains to be seen if Bosa was also injured, but their playoff chances got a big blow with the defeat. They slipped to the 4th position in the NFC West with a 6-8 win-loss record.

Even in the game, there were the HC Kyle Shanahan missed some chances to take the lead. It was a toughly fought contest.

Can Dre Greenlaw's return spark a 49ers resurgence, or is it too little too late?

Kyle Shanahan blames their O-line for the week 15 loss

There were absolutely no touchdowns in the week 15 game, and both teams totaled 18 points. So, you can expect how tough it was to score. Many members of the Faithful blamed the weather as it was some rain with low temperatures in the range of 11°C. But the HC Kyle Shanahan didn’t agree.

While accepting the weather played its part, the HC blamed his O-line as well and said, “It wasn’t just because of the weather. I don’t think our offense did very good. Obviously, I think Brock made some good plays, missed a couple plays, but you know, no one on offense did good enough.” Their QB was also less effective in the game.

It’s known that Brock Purdy is more of like a cognitive quarterback. But in the TNF game, he failed to impress. He had 14 of 31 passes (45% completion) in 142 yards and 1 interception while the Rams QB Matthew Stafford had 16 of 27 passes (60% completion) in 160 yards. This was the difference as well.

The path of the playoffs has become tough for the Niners. Can they qualify? It’s hard, but the fans believe they have a chance.
