The 49ers HC Kyle Shanahan must be thinking if is it just them playing bad, or it’s their fate which is not letting them regroup. The team is struggling with injuries to key players like Christian McCaffrey and Nick Bosa. Ahead of their week 14 matchup against Bears, the coach confirmed the injury status for their Wednesday practice. Here’s an update.

Let’s start with those who didn’t practice. It includes the LG Aaron Banks (concussion), the LT Trent Williams (ankle), RB Jordan Mason (ankle), DE Nick Bosa (hip/oblique), and LB Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles (knee). Out of these, Mason is already on the injured reserve (IR) list.

Kyle Shanahan also listed out the players who had limited participation in the practice. It included CB Deommodore Lenoir (knee), OLB Dre Greenlaw (Achilles) and SS Talanoa Hufanga (wrist). Out of these 3, the OLB and SS are trying to return to the active roster. Injuries to so many players is a danger sign for the Niners.

No one anticipated before this season that last year finalists will find it so hard to qualify for the playoffs. They are 4th in their NFC West division and 11th in their conference. The head coach has already said that all their remaining games are a must-win. The struggle has continued throughout the season.

Even the happiness has been short-lived. The prime case is of the running back Christian McCaffrey.

Are the 49ers cursed with injuries, or is it just bad luck hitting them hard?

This wasn’t my year, and sometimes when it rains, it pours. I’m grateful for the support of everyone in my corner and promise I’ll work smarter and harder than ever to come back better from this,” he wrote alongside a photo of him walking back into the locker room. He also mentioned his love for the sport, his teammates and the HC Kylen Shanahan.

It’s definitely emotional. For now, the team is hoping that it isn’t too serious, and he can comeback from this. The 49ers posted the IG post on X and wrote, “Onward, 23 🙏🏻” That’s sweet. The Niners need to manage their resources smartly if they want to qualify for the postseason. It’s not a simple job, but they can’t drop their morale. The Faithful are counting on them to make it happen.
