The Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas is set to be a special one. For the first time in its history, the Super Bowl is coming to the desert state of Nevada. And along with it, it can be extra special for the San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan to win, replicating his father’s success. And doing something that has never been done!

HC Mike Shanahan has 3 Super Bowl titles under his belt, 2 of them as head coach with the Denver Broncos. And if Kyle’s 49ers end up winning the Lombardi Trophy in Las Vegas, the Shanahan’s will become the first-ever head coach father-son duo to do it!

Kyle was just a teenager when his father won three Super Bowls in the ’90s. But now he can forever etch his and his dad’s name in the history books. Even though he failed four years ago, to get this record, he has one more chance.

The 49ers lost the Super Bowl LIV in 2020 against the Kansas City Chiefs and hence he could not get his hands on the coveted trophy. The same trophy that he saw his father lift as a teenager.

Mike Shanahan won back-to-back Super Bowls with the Broncos in 1998 and 1999. And he would love to see his son achieve the same success as well. But there is one more father-son duo, who can have their names in history books as well in this Super Bowl.

Christian McCaffrey on the same path as well

Mike’s first-ever Super Bowl victory was with the 49ers in 1995 as an assistant coach. And on that squad’s WR was Ed McCaffrey, CMC’s father. Ed followed Mike to the Broncos as well and won two more Super Bowls.

Even though several pairs of fathers and sons have won the Super Bowl previously. This special category never loses its achievement. With CMC-Ed looking to become the latest entry on this list. And the head coach eyes a first-ever entry in the history of football.
