After his senior season in high school, the Orioles drafted him, offering him a $1 million contract. However, his father, Harry, asked him to make a promise that would change the course of the NFL. Russell kept his promise to his father, but his love for baseball never faded. Recently Wilson celebrated 14 years to the start of his career in MLB.

Ciara told the camera, “My first single of my career ‘Goodies’ came out on this date, June 8th.” Russell added, “I got drafted June 8th, 14 years ago, for baseball.” Ciara and Russell were thrilled to discover that their significant career milestones had happened on the same date. Ciara captioned the video, “Crazy!! Our dreams came true on the same day! I love you baby @dangerrusswilson.”

Russell even shared a throwback picture of his Colorado Rockies baseball card on X. He celebrated the start of his career as a professional athlete, writing, “June 8, 2010! Drafted 14 years ago today @MLB!”
