Alright, let’s break this down—Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski just dropped a bombshell that’s got the NFL world buzzing. Drama alert: It sounds like Kenny Pickett is the main guy in Cleveland now, and Deshaun Watson’s days as the starter might be… over.

Basically, Stefanski didn’t hold back, saying, “Kenny Pickett’s a guy I believe in, we believe in.” What about Watson?? Is he done for? Is all the training he is doing for nothing? This basically feels like the Browns slamming the door on the Watson era. So why did he say that? Is it Pickett’s influence, or is he ‘inspired‘ by Pickett’s journey?

Pickett’s NFL journey? Wild. The Steelers drafted him in 2022, but he never really popped off in Pittsburgh. Then he bounced to Philly, rode the bench behind Jalen Hurts, and snagged a Super Bowl ring with the Eagles. Now, after a trade this March (the Browns sent Dorian Thompson-Robinson and a fifth-rounder to get him), he’s landing in Cleveland with Stefanski shouting his name from the rooftops.

Meanwhile, Deshaun Watson’s time in Cleveland has been a nightmare. Dude went 1–6 last season, tore his Achilles in Week 7, and even before the injury? Woof. He had the worst QBR in the league (23.9), and the Browns’ offense was dead last, averaging under 254 yards a game. When Jameis Winston stepped in after Watson went down, he lit it up with 334 yards, 3 TDs in a comeback win, but Stefanski never flinched. No QB controversy talk, just a laser focus on the future.

Now Watson’s rehabbing, Winston’s a free agent, and the Browns are rolling with Pickett. The guy’s already hyped, saying, “I just think it’s a great opportunity to go compete again. That’s really all you can ask for.” But here’s the kicker: Cleveland’s sitting pretty with the No. 2 pick in the 2025 draft. Shedeur Sanders? Quinn Ewers? The speculation’s wild, but Stefanski’s all-in on Pickett.

It’s not just the coaching staff moving on—ownership is also acknowledging the reality of the Watson situation. Browns owner Jimmy Haslam admitted that the Watson trade was a massive miscalculation, saying, “We took a big swing and miss with Deshaun. We thought we had the quarterback, we didn’t, and we gave up a lot of draft picks to get him. So we’ve got to dig ourselves out of that hole.… (The trade) was an entire organization decision and it ends with Dee and I, so hold us accountable.” That’s a rare moment of honesty from an owner, but it also makes one thing clear—Cleveland is ready to move forward. But, Imagine Watson reading this.

Bottom line: The Browns are done waffling. They’re handing the keys to Pickett and moving on from the Watson experiment. Whether it’s a genius reset or a disaster in the making? Buckle up, folks. This is Cleveland football—expect the unexpected.

Browns have their eyes on Shedeur Sanders

Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski just gave some insight into how the team is scouting quarterbacks, and yeah, Shedeur Sanders is definitely on their radar. When talking about the pre-draft process, Stefanski explained how it’s more than just watching game tape. “Throwing live is another piece of this, it’s a small piece but a piece of it. Getting around and going to dinner is important, but then the whole process then getting in and listening to the rest of the coaches, the rest of the scouts, how they see the entire draft board, but certainly Shedeur is somebody that, you know, I think has done a really nice job throughout this process.” Sounds like Cleveland is taking a real close look at the Colorado star.

Shedeur, son of NFL legend Deion Sanders, has been balling out in college. He finished with a crazy 74% completion rate, racking up 134 touchdowns and only 27 picks over four years. His accuracy, calmness under pressure, and ability to command an offense make him one of the top QB prospects in the 2025 draft. That just so happens to be exactly what the Browns need as they figure out their long-term plan under center.

With the No. 2 overall pick, Cleveland has a legit shot at drafting Shedeur if they want to. And with Deshaun Watson’s future looking shaky and Kenny Pickett still needing to prove he’s the guy, the Browns might just make a move for the young star. Stefanski’s comments make one thing clear—Shedeur Sanders is definitely in the conversation.
