Where do the Browns go from here? A season that promised so much after last year’s playoff run ended with an embarrassing record of 3-14. There’s almost nothing for them to look back upon. Like, what can you possibly consider a positive in a season where you are nothing more than the league’s laughing stock? But hold on! There is one positive under the dark clouds that hover over Cleveland. However, he might not stick around for long. Yes, we are talking about none other than Browns star pass rusher Myles Garrett.
He remains the only light within the darkness that the Browns have found themselves in. With 14 sacks to his name, Garrett has yet again proved his worth to a dysfunctional Browns side. Now, you won’t really expect a player of Garrett’s calibre to continue wasting his potential in a franchise that is going nowhere. Although he has two years remaining on his contract, Garrett is expected to leave before next season arrives. But the Browns’ head coach, Kevin Stefanski, thinks otherwise. He expects DE Myles Garrett to be in Cleveland in 2025.
While Stefanski’s message could offer some respite to those dejected Browns fans, Garrett’s comments on his future sound a bit different. After the Ravens’ clash, Garrett hinted at what his future could be like beyond this season, “I mean, there’ll be something coming.” Well, those words right there still don’t guarantee Garrett’s future in Cleveland.

But here’s the thing—The reigning Defensive Player of the Year would surely have ambitions more than just being part of losing seasons. However, it isn’t like he hates playing in Cleveland. Just look what he said about the leadership within the organization, “We got those guys right there leading the charge organizationally. Them being here, wanting to pick up the right pieces and play will give me confidence. As long as that’s how it’s looking. I want to be here. And I’ll be happy to play for Cleveland.”

Despite all the disappointments, Garrett still believes good things can churn out from this organization. And he isn’t the only one who wants to stay and make a name for himself in Cleveland. Browns fourth-string QB Bailey Zappe is also eyeing a spot as a starter next season.
Bailey Zappe spills his desire to be a starter in Cleveland
Former Patriots QB Bailey Zappe didn’t really have a great game in Orange on Saturday to make a name for himself as a potential starter in 2025. He completed just 16 of his 31 passes for 170 yards while throwing just one TD. But that TD, which came back in the fourth quarter, didn’t really mean anything. His two interceptions overshadowed his only TD, where one ended up being a pick-six in the first half. However, when it came to talking about his future in Cleveland, Zappe was pretty excited, “I’d love to be here. I’d love to play here. I’ve made great relationships here. I believe I can win games here like I have in the past.”

Now, the 25-year-old, whose contract expires in the summer, didn’t just express his desire to stay beyond 2024. He also, like Garrett, believes the organization is heading in the right direction, “I just think I see the vision of what Kevin Stefanski and Andrew Berry and all these guys have been here for a long time. The vision that they want this organization to get to.” So, it all depends on what the Cleveland front office will decide in the coming weeks.
Judging by their woeful record, the Browns are on their way to probably get the No.1 overall draft pick next season. Will they try and draft a QB that finally solves their problem at center? Or are they going to resign Bailey Zappe and make him compete with Deshaun Watson once he comes back from his ACL injury? These are all questions right now, and we will probably get our answers soon as the Browns finally draw curtains to their horrors in 2024.
