At this point, Kevin O’Connell and the Minnesota Vikings can’t take a breath. They’ve already lost Sam Darnold to the Seattle Seahawks, J.J. McCarthy’s injury concerns are constantly giving them nightmares, and Aaron Rodgers‘ is knocking on their windows for a potential deal. BUT! Looks like the franchise took a little detour from their quarterback drama after a long time in this off-season.
Let’s cut to the chase. On Tuesday, the Minnesota team agreed to terms with the Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver, Tim Jones. Yep, you read that right. The team took to its official ‘X’ handle and announced the signing of the fifth-year wide receiver on their roster. “The #Vikings have agreed to terms with WR @Timnjones5,” they wrote in their post. However, the team didn’t disclose the contract terms.

Looks like the Jaguars are so in the mood to bid farewell to their pass catchers. Oh yeah, that’s really a thing. The Jacksonville team already parted ways with their tight end, Evan Engram, and wide receivers Christian Kirk, Devin Duvernay and Josh Reynolds. And now? Well, Tim Jones is the fifth Jaguars player who found a new team in 2025.
The Jaguars signed Jones as an undrafted free agent back in the 2021 NFL draft where the guy spent his rookie season on the practice squad. Following his rookie season, Jones appeared in all 51 regular-season games and two playoff games for the team while playing a crucial role on the O-line and special teams.
His track record? Well, that’s enough for the Vikings to invest in the 26-year-old WR. The guy appeared in all 17 games during the last three seasons while logging 653 snaps on offense and 648 on special teams. However, he hasn’t put up impressive receiving numbers for the Jaguars. Jones wrapped up his Jaguars stint after recording 17 receptions for 154 yards on 27 targets.
But with the way things are unfolding, it’s pretty clear that Kevin O’Connell and Co. are stacking up their WR room. As for their never-ending QB saga… well, let’s just say the Vikings are keeping things interesting—especially with all the Aaron Rodgers buzz swirling around.
What’s your perspective on:
Can Tim Jones be the game-changer the Vikings desperately need amidst their quarterback chaos?
Have an interesting take?
Aaron Rodgers in or out of Minnesota?
A few weeks ago, Aaron Rodgers was expected to sign a deal either with the Pittsburgh Steelers or the New York Giants. But nope, weeks after those speculations, here we are, and A-Rod is still a free agent. Plus, to make things even wild, Kevin O’Connell and the Vikings also decided to make a visit—enter the NFL’s own Multiverse of Madness.
You see, Rodgers is looking for a new home to hang up his cleats after playing one more season, no doubt about that. And now’s the big question: who’s going to sign Rodgers? Let’s find out. For starters, the Vikings are the most likely option and there are plenty of reasons behind that. First off, Sam Darnold won’t be in Minnesota to lead their O-line in 2025, Daniel Jones is already off to Indianapolis, and J.J. McCarthy’s injury issues are making O’Connell and Co. scratch their heads.

That said, the Minnesota team is likely to sign A-Rod for a potential deal. The kicker? Well, McCarthy is yet to make his NFL debut, and he’s looking for a fair opportunity to start after missing out on his whole rookie season following a season-ending injury. That means Kevin O’Connell probably needs to have a chit-chat if he’s considering signing Rodgers.
As for the Steelers and the Giants… well, they’re waiting for Rodgers to make a decision. With a top pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Giants are in prime position to snag a rookie QB—and it sure looks like that’s the plan.
The Steelers, on the other hand, are in dire need of a QB at this point with Justin Fields now. With the Jets and the team’s not looking to sign Russell Wilson. If the Vikings don’t want Rodgers and the Steelers don’t have an option, then don’t be shocked if you see A-Rod playing in black and gold—unless he decides to call quits and hit the golf course.
