Is Davante Adams worth a second-round pick, or are teams right to hesitate on the trade?

Davante Adams trade is still far from over. Though he told the Raiders straightaway that he wants a trade, it looks like the delay will happen. The 5th of November is the deadline. There are many teams in the fray. New York Jets, Pittsburgh Steelers, and New Orleans Saints are a few of those. The receiver is dealing with a hamstring injury as well.

You know the WR’s trade talks are interesting when even people out of the NFL World are excited about it. NBA legend Kevin Durant recently appeared on the Up & Adams Show with Kay Adams where he talked about the receiver. He first showed concern for his injury and said, “Hopefully, he just gets healthy again, cause he is still out.” The WR has been off the field since week 3 and might not return for the Raiders’ week 6 matchup against the Steelers. Durant is right there. No team would want to bring him in if they couldn’t play him.

However, the NBA superstar also gave his opinion about the potential move to the Buffalo Bills and claimed, “Josh Allen could definitely use him there.” The team has lost the last 2 games. And their offense also needs a boost. The addition of Davante Adams will give a much-required boost to the likes of Keon Coleman and Mack Hollins. However, there are talks of his trade being stalled too.

The Raiders want a second-round draft pick along with the money to trade off their wide receiver. Teams aren’t willing to do that. Hence, the trade talks are getting extended. Durant also understands this, and he advised the WR on that part. NBA legend added, “They want to make sure that deal is right for them too. It may take a long time. It may take Davante pushing them a little bit, to force them to make a deal happen quick.” Till now, no team has willed to give up their second-round pick for the veteran.

Amid all these, there is no clarity if he will play for the Raiders again or not.

NFL insider Ian Rapoport also confirmed the pause in trade. He claimed that the firing of Robert Saleh hampered the WR’s trade to the Jets. However, he also signaled that the decision now lay on the GM Woody Johnson. These talks don’t affect the Raiders coach Antonio Pierce.

The head coach still treats Davante Adams as a Raider (which he is officially). He discussed the receiver with reports after Thursday’s practice and said, “When he’s healthy and we can play him, we’ll play him. He’s just not healthy right now.” However, the WR might not want to play. Adams told reporters that he wanted a trade to a team with an excellent quarterback he had played already.
