A little over five years ago, when Sean Payton was still running the show in the New Orleans Saints, he brought Mike Westhoff out of retirement to coach special teams. Westhoff didn’t know the players or the locker room, it was all new. One day, he’s walking through and spots a guy fresh out of the shower, towel around his waist, built like a tank. Curious, he turns to Payton and starts asking about the guy what position he plays, how big he is, and how fast. Payton calmly shares his story, but the truth is, a player like that isn’t easy to sum up.

Taysom Hill‘s the kind of athlete who defies labels. And now, years later, with Kellen Moore taking charge, Hill’s still there, still doing it all. Be it tight end/quarterback/wide receiver/fullback/special teams ace, Hill can play almost every position. That’s why he is still the ‘do-everything’ weapon for Kellen Moore’s Saints. But last year, in the Week 13 game, the 34-year-old suffered everything from broken bones to sprained tendons and plantar fasciitis. His season abruptly ended because of a torn ACL and other parts of his knee.

However, as the offseason started, folks speculated that Hill would return to the season healthy. But a new update from NFL Rumors on X, “#Saints TE Taysom Hill will be OUT until training camp or later,” as his injury needs more time to heal. His future in Kellen Moore’s team is starting to feel a little uncertain.

On Thursday, besides updating the media about Hill, Moore gave some injury updates on Foster Moreau, too, who suffered a knee injury in the final game of the Saints. So, as per him, both are still recovering from their respective big injuries they suffered last season. That means no OTAs, no minicamp, just watching from the sidelines while their teammates grind.

Hill tore his ACL back in December, and at 34, that’s not an easy comeback. And even then, there’s no telling how quickly, or how well, he fits into this new offense. This staff hasn’t worked with a guy like him before. Add in his $18 million cap hit for next year, and the tough question starts to hang in the air – does he even make it to Week 1 in a Saints jersey?

In total, Hill has played for 8 seasons with the Saints, where he has logged 2,369 yards and 11 touchdowns as a TE. But now, as he is out of the team for some more time, Kellen Moore will be dependent on Dallin Holker. So, it’s safe to say that at least the TE situation is in control for a while. But what about the quarterback position?

What’s your perspective on:

Can Taysom Hill bounce back at 34, or is it time for the Saints to move on?

Kellen Moore will have to look beyond Aaron Rodgers

This May, Derek Carr made a surprise retirement from the league. And ever since, Kellen Moore and his squad have been looking for his perfect replacement. Amidst the hunt, Aaron Rodgers’s name came up. But will he be coming to New Orleans, especially when his name is also being linked to the Steelers?

Out of curiosity, at a concert in Austin, Texas, a fan from Louisiana asked Rodgers if he would consider signing with New Orleans. To which, the 41-year-old clearly rejected, saying, “No (with a laugh).” He again added, “I’ve played there a couple of times. But no, I’m too old. I don’t want to live in Louisiana. Sorry.” Hmm…now that makes one thing clear.

Last week, Rodgers mentioned that he will be playing fora team that might play in Chicago this year.” The Steelers are! So, we can easily interpret that Rodgers is up for Mike Tomlin’s department and not Kellen Moore’s. So, until a veteran replacement, the team might have to rely on their rookie Tyler Shough. No doubt, the road is tough ahead for the Aints!
