Has it ever happened that a team gives its most dominant performance of the season, wins the Super Bowl, and then loses its offensive coordinator? Well, if it hasn’t, it’s about to. It’s almost confirmed that the Eagles OC Kellen Moore will be joining the New Orleans Saints as their Head Coach soon. Moore played a pivotal part in the Eagles’ victory and if he leaves the team will surely miss him. The question though, did the Eagles try to stop him?

Well, Nick Sirianni certainly did, as he does not want Moore to leave. The Eagles HC had a simple message for Moore. During the presentation after the Super Bowl, he said, “Let’s run this s__t back.” Well, as per reports, Moore, despite Sirianni’s request, will be moving on from the Eagles. Ian Rapoport shared a clip on social media in which he informed about Moore’s next steps. “Over the course of the next 24 hours, probably a lot shorter he is expected to be the next coach of the New Orleans Saints,” he said.

If that wasn’t enough of a confirmation, the Eagles owner has also opened up on the matter. Jeffrey Lurie clearly believes that they will not be able to hold on to Moore for the coming season. The Eagles owner was asked in an interview if he believed his team was about to lose Kellen Moore and he simply responded with “I do.” He said, “Unfortunately, we’re gonna have to wish him the very best with New Orleans.” Well, these words were enough to break all hopes of the Eagles’ fans. Unfortunately, this isn’t the only bad news for the fans.

There is much speculation that Moore will not be leaving the Eagles alone. According to several reports, the Eagles OC will be taking Quarterbacks Coach, Doug Nussmeier with him. Rapoport discussed the same and said, “As far as his staff goes, Doug Nussmeier is his quarterbacks coach at Philadelphia and would be considered a strong candidate to have a big role on the offensive staff, perhaps offensive coordinator for the New Orleans Saints.” If this is true, it would be a big blow for Sirianni and the Eagles.

Well, we all know Moore and Nussmeier work well together as they literally helped the Eagles win the Super Bowl. The duo significantly helped improve the team’s offense and it was visible. Especially in Jalen Hurts’ performance during the Super Bowl, the QB played like a champ in the game. Hunt‘s performance included 2 touchdowns, 221 passing yards, and 72 rushing yards. Kicker Jake Elliott also contributed significantly, successfully converting four field goals.

It is clear that Moore and Nussmeier were vital to the Eagles’ offensive success, and if and when they decide to move, it will be very difficult for Sirianni to find a replacement for them.

What’s your perspective on:

Will the Eagles regret letting Kellen Moore slip away after their Super Bowl triumph?

Have an interesting take?

Who could join Kellen Moore at the Saints?

Well, Nussmeier being linked with the Saints as offensive coordinator is not a surprise. Now, what about the defense? The Saints really need someone to up their defense game and even Alontae Taylor knows that. The Saints cornerback sent a message to Moore urging him to get the best defensive coordinator for the Saints. Taylor said, “Kellen Moore, we need the best defensive coordinator you can find that’s available.”

Well, Taylor would want someone who can help the Saints deliver a performance similar to what the Eagles did at the Super Bowl. Well, who can that be? The answer may lie in Moore’s past. There has been speculation that Brandon Staley could be the heading to the Saints. It is quite possible. Moore and Staley know each other from their time together with the Chargers and add to that temperament and experience that Staley will bring, and it seems like a no-brainer.

Is there no one else though? Well, Moore could look to bring in Christian Parker. He for sure will bring that Vic Fangio effect to the Saints and is that what they just might need?

It will be interesting to see how the Saints staff shapes up in the coming days. For the Eagles, however, the loss of Moore (and potentially Nussmeier) will be significant.
