The energy and festivities of the Super Bowl parade came to an unfortunate end in Kansas City. Towards the end of the victory parade of the Chiefs, a mass shooting broke out, leading to the death of one person and injuring at least 22 others. Multiple shots were fired outside the Union Station at 2 p.m., causing panic and chaos among the parade goers. A lockdown has been imposed at the location following the crime.
The identity of the deceased victim has been confirmed as Lisa Lopez-Galvan, per NBC News. Police authorities have detained three suspects for the incident. The late victim was a beloved figure in the local radio community and succumbed to her abdomen wounds during surgery.

Lisa Lopez-Galvan worked as a DJ at KKFI 90.1 FM and was known for co-hosting the ‘Taste of Tejano’ program. Belonging to Hispanic routes, Lopez-Galvan hosted the radio show celebrating Tejano music and would also perform at local events like weddings and fundraisers.
The KKFI 90.1 FM released the sad news on their Facebook page for their listeners. The station also changed the profile picture of the page to Lisa’s photograph, along with a candle in mourning.
“It is with sincere sadness and an extremely heavy and broken heart that we let our community know that KKFI DJ Lisa Lopez-Galvan, host of Taste of Tejano lost her life today in the shooting at the KC Chiefs’ rally. This senseless act has taken a beautiful person from her family and this KC Community.”
Hailing from Johnson County, Lisa was a mother to two children, as shared by the Kansas City Star. She was described as “the most wonderful, beautiful person” and “full of life” by a co-worker. Fans, celebrities, and athletes have expressed their remorse for the victims of the shooting.
Shock rings through Kansas City after the tragedy
Kansas City Chiefs players had just left the stage when gunshots rang out, casting a shadow of shock and despair over a day meant for celebration. Chiefs’ safety Justin Reid expressed his anger on X. He also called out the authorities, demanding some serious steps to be taken to tackle the serious problem of gun violence.
