The unfortunate tragedy has shaken the City of Kansas along with the whole football community at large. The shooting incident claimed the life of one and left about two dozen people wounded with gunshots. The suspects have been apprehended by the KCPD and further investigation is being carried out. Amidst this, the football players and Chiefs members have been pouring in their condolences and prayers to the victims of the act.

Patrick Mahomes and a few others initially joined the moment of mourning as they offered their thoughts, prayers, and help to the victims of the shooting that took place at the Union Station. Travis Kelce also added his condolences to the victims of the horrifying incident, expressing his heartbreak over the “tragedy.”

Addressing the situation at large, Kelce had a message for the City of Kansas. His post on X said, “I am heartbroken over the tragedy that took place today. My heart is with all who came out to celebrate with us and have been affected. KC, you mean the world to me.”

His words highlighted the horrible impact the incident has had on everyone connected to it. While updates have been pouring in regarding the same, there is a video of one of the Kansas City Chiefs fans tackling the shooter that is going viral. The group of supporters can be seen running toward the shooter and pinning them to the ground, while the area was getting evacuated. The video from Fantasy Fanatics on X was featured in the comments, “Breaking Video of Heroic Kansas City fans tackling one of the shooters.”

As of now, a total of three people are in custody, per NBC. One of the people in custody is supposedly the person tackled in the video. “We are working to determine if one of the three are the one that was in that video, where fans assisted police,” said Police Chief Stacey Graves in a press conference.

As the authorities are putting their best foot forward to deal with the heartbreaking situation, the NFL, Patrick Mahomes, and a couple of other Chiefs players have come forward to join hands to support and extend prayers to the victims.

Patrick Mahomes takes a stand for the victims

Mahomes addressed the situation and sent out his prayers to the city of Kansas as he posted, “Praying for Kansas City” on X. While millions of people came out to support the victims, the NFL also published a statement on X.

“We are deeply saddened by the senseless shooting that occurred today near the end of the rally in Kansas City for the Chiefs. Our thoughts are with the victims and everyone affected. We are grateful for the quick and thorough response of law enforcement and emergency personnel,” issued the NFL on X.

While the people are still aghast at the unfortunate incident, the authorities are doing their best to alleviate the ones affected. Currently, the Children’s Mercy Hospital is treating 11 children who were wounded in the occurrence. We still await further updates from the KCPD.
