Some would say that Travis Kelce is getting old, while others would think that the Chiefs TE has a lot of football left in him. Regardless, the Kansas City Chiefs are looking for a protégé for Kelce to take under his wings and make him his successor. Throughout the 2023 season, the Chiefs relied heavily on their defense and the Kelce-Mahomes duo.
While the team has been under constant duress in the wide receiver department, more problems introduced themselves after Rashee Rice’s mishap. But the Chiefs are thinking about their future nonetheless and have eyes on some of the hottest TE prospects coming out of college. The team recently uploaded an episode of 2024 Draft Talk, which solely focuses on the up-and-coming TE’s.

There were 4 major prospects mentioned as far as the Chiefs’ draft is concerned. Texas’ Ja’Tavion Sanders, Ohio’s Cade Stover, Kansas State’s Ben Sinnott are some prospects that came up as Chiefs new possible tight ends. The host in the video went on to explain the strengths of these individual prospects, but surprisingly, took Brock Bowers out of the conversation.
It was pointed out that the Chiefs have the 32 pick in the upcoming draft and by that time, Brock Bowers would already be long gone. But they can still consider Ja’Tavion Sanders, who is 6’4” and 245 pounds. He is a TE who can also act as a wide receiver and has no issues with picking any routes that the Chiefs might throw at him. PFF dubbed him as a “giant wide receiver who can play tight end.”
Cade Stover can also be a solid choice for the Kansas City team. Stover has experience with playing linebacker and defensive end, because that’s how he began his Ohio football journey. He also had a stint with special teams but finally made a switch to TE about halfway through his career. He had 0 drops for 51 targets last year! That level of athleticism is quite impressive.
However, the Chiefs have a local talent that they can easily sign. Ben Sinnott has been making waves recently and left more than 90% of his competition behind.

The Kansas State Wildcats TE recorded 49 receptions over 676 yards and 6 touchdowns, averaging 13.8 yards per reception. Sinnott’s 14 forced miss tackles are something that one should also keep in mind, which is ranked 4 among all tight ends. There’s something called a Relative Athletic Score, where the TE ranked 97 percentiles in terms of his athleticism.
