During a pivotal defensive play in the divisional round game against the Bills, the Chiefs’ DB Mike Edwards faced a harrowing moment. Edwards was involved in a significant collision with Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs. This was when he was attempting to intercept a pass from quarterback Josh Allen. Even though this effort was successful in preventing a reception, it did result in Edwards staying down on the field, indicating a possible injury.

Later, he was swiftly attended to by the Chiefs’ medical staff and managed to walk off the field with minimal assistance. Edwards then underwent initial evaluations in the blue medical tent which was carried out by both the team’s trainers and an independent neurological consultant, per the updates. Following this, he proceeded to the locker room for further checks.

Meanwhile, sideline reporter Tracy Wolfson, during the CBS game broadcast, reported that Edwards had entered the NFL’s concussion protocol and had been ruled out because of it. The Chiefs’ defense suffered a major blow due to Edwards’ injury. While the Chiefs secured a victory in the close clash, they did have to face injury consequences and bring in a replacement for Edwards.
