Are the Browns signing the most accurate punter in history? Well, that can be the case, as there are major speculations on the situation. According to some sources, the Ravens may release Justin Tucker, who will be eligible for free agency this offseason. And guess what? The Cleveland Browns could be hoping to swoop in and sign the 35-year-old punter. But the team never made an official announcement. So, where did the speculations come from?

Well, everything started with Antonio Brown’s tweet. The former Steelers player reacted to NFLrumors’ story about Justin Tucker’s impending release. Surprisingly, the legend did not choose his former team where the punter could potentially go. Instead, he expected the Cleveland Browns would be the ones to go after him: “Justin Tucker Welcome to the Cleveland Browns”

If this happens, it will be extremely beneficial to the Browns and Deshaun Watson. They did not even have an average season in 2024, finishing with 3-14. This was the worst thing that could have happened to them, and coming back from it would be like climbing a mountain. And Justin Tucker can be a valuable asset in this path. But there is one problem: is it a smart idea to sign the controversial Punter?

Everyone is aware that Tucker is facing an ongoing misbehavior allegation. Some massage parlors and women have filed allegations against him for engaging in inappropriate s*xual activity. As a result, he is the focus of extensive investigations. And who knows? If he is proven guilty, the individual may miss the next NFL season. Despite the serious nature of the charges, there is little concrete evidence against him.

The NFL is also looking into the subject, but they have plainly indicated that no updates would be provided on the situation. But what happens if Justin Tucker is proven guilty? Obviously, it will affect his job, but he will also face consequences from a variety of sources. The Punter will be punished at the general court for assault. But also he will be fined by the NFL for “undermining or putting at risk the integrity of the NFL.”

The Baltimore Ravens are also seeking his release as a result of these circumstances. However, it appears that there is a reason why the team would postpone the release for a few days.

What’s your perspective on:

Will signing Justin Tucker be a game-changer for the Browns, or a risky gamble?

Justin Tucker could be released by the Ravens in March.

As of March 1st, everyone will kick in the new league year. And then the teams would attempt to disperse their Cap hit. If the Ravens try to get rid of Tucker before then, they will suffer a significant loss. As of March, they will be able to distribute his Cap hit for more than two years. This way, the team will not only pay Tucker less, but they will also not pay the Punter his possible base salary of 2025.

Mike Florio explained all this claiming, “Without a post-June 1 designation, releasing Tucker would trigger a cap charge of $7.5175 million for 2025. By waiting to activate the CBA rule that allows a team to sever ties while spreading the dead money over two years, the Ravens would take a $2.8725 million charge in 2025 and a $4.645 million charge in 2026. Cutting him would also wipe out a non-guaranteed $4.2 million salary for 2025.”

While all of this is only achievable once March begins. It appears like the team will be obliged to make a decision quickly after the new league year comes. The reason for this is that March 14th is the last day on which the team should give each player their Cap Hit. In Justin Tucker’s situation, the Cap Hit is $7,072,500. And this is 2.1% of his overall cap money. So to avoid giving it, Tucker can be seen in the free agency potentially before it.

Well, it appears that even when releasing a player, the teams are careful not to lose any more money. That is why Baltimore is one of the most cost-effective teams in the league. But will he move on to the Browns? We’ll hopefully get a clear answer soon.
