Mike Danna is here to stay in Kansas City! The defensive end’s first stint as an unrestricted free agent comes to an end with the new multimillion-dollar contract. According to recent reports, the 26-year-old is set to sign a three-year deal worth $24 million with the Chiefs.
As soon as the news hit the internet, there were mixed reactions all over social media. While some fans questioned the over-priced signing of the young DE, others congratulated him for his return to his draft team. The best reactions were from Danna’s teammates from Kansas City, especially safety Justin Reid.
Reid seems to be happy about getting his old crew back, as is clear by his post on X. To celebrate Danna’s recent signing, the Chiefs’ safety shared a GIF saying, “Guess who’s getting the band together again?” He also wrote about how the DE’s return makes the team’s defense more deadly. “Teeth of our defense just keeps getting better,” he wrote along with a devil emoji.

Chiefs’ dynamic offseason moves
With aims as big as three back-to-back Super Bowl wins, this offseason needs serious scrutiny from the Chiefs to fill in all holes and gaps before the season commences. The first surprising move came in early March with the franchise tagging of cornerback L’Jarius Sneed after the release of WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling. Sneed was later traded to the Titans for a seventh-round in this year’s draft and a third-round pick for next year.
While Patrick Mahomes wasn’t going anywhere, he was happy to have his press run partner, Chris Jones, back with a five-year deal. To further secure depth in the roster, a series of signings took place for the likes of TE Gerrit Prince and Irv Smith. Perhaps the most exciting moves for the Chiefs Kingdom were the addition of Carson Wentz as a backup for Mahomes and ex-rugby star Louis Rees Zammit.
