Justin Jefferson didn’t know that his childhood dream coming true would open a Pandora’s box. His massive extension has not only caused shockwaves in the NFL but also has team owners running around in circles. From an OPOY winning 2022 season to being the highest-paid non QB in the league, he’s seen it all. All that without even winning the Lombardi.

Even at the lowest point in his career, J Jetta put up a 1,000+ yard season, and that’s the reason for his massive 4-year $140 million payout. Or is it? Maybe people just want to see a tall dude making flashy plays on prime-time television. He’s broken so many records since his rookie season that it’s hard to catch up. For now, we are just focused on him breaking the record of being the highest paid wideout in the league.

But before we dive into his contract, it’s important to know about his journey. He’s stylish off the field, but on it, he’s a phenom. No receiver in the history of the NFL has ever come close to completing 5,899 yards in their first four seasons. Another thing that a wideout hasn’t done in the history of the sport is to have 98.3 receiving yards per game (minimum of 50 games), but Justin has. He might do better this year with the highest average salary of $35 million that he’s taking home in the 2024 season. Jefferson now boasts a remarkable net worth of $10 million as well!

Compared to what he made in his rookie deal; he’s making more than 10 times of it now! Yes, that’s right. Here’s the breakdown: Most of his money comes in bonuses this year. While the 25-year-old is having a base salary of about $1.1 million for this year, he’s also getting a fat check of $36.9 million as a signing bonus. Next year’s even better!

While he’ll make a base salary of $1.1 million in the 2025 season, the receiver will still make another $30 million—a fully guaranteed option bonus, putting him in the $35 million league. Manipulating the signing and roster bonus is how your favorite sports teams manage cap space. The contract that kicks in this year will go through the 2028 season when he’ll make $33.2 million in base salary and a signing bonus of $7.7 million along with another $6 million in optional bonus.

Upon reaching this huge milestone in his NFL career, Jefferson took to X and posted a video of him thanking his support system. “Something that once was a dream is now my reality. There are so many people that I can sit here and thank, but you all know who you are that helped me along the way. But we ain’t stopping here…. There’s more to be done… SKOL!!!!!!!”, captioned Jefferson.

The best part about the contract is that Jefferson is guaranteed $110 million, no matter what! That might be one of the highest the league has ever seen. But enough about the numbers and semantics of his jaw dropping deal. While the Minnesota Vikings WR is making tons of cash, he’s set the market way too high for the other receivers- and that’s going to be difficult for other teams to match up for their WRs.

Think about CeeDee Lamb for a second. He and Jefferson have been going head-to-head, right? This year Lamb put up his season best, led the league, but still doesn’t have a contract in his hand. The inflation is just too high for teams to wrap their heads around.

What about next season when people like Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, Brandon Aiyuk and a lot of others ask for what they are owed? The 49ers are having a problem keeping up with it. We know that the Dallas Cowboys definitely are.

We’ll see how Minnesota’s season plays out after watching Jefferson play without Kirk Cousins this year. For now, he has the responsibility of making the same old flashy plays with Sam Darnold and JJ McCarthy, both of whom are not only new to Minnesota, but will also have to learn how to adopt Kevin O’Connell’s system.

Remember when we told you that Justin Jefferson will make 10 times more than what he used to make as a rookie? Let’s talk about that.

Justin Jefferson was topflight receiver ever since his come up!

Justin Jefferson and Joe Burrow’s LSU stood against Clemson to win the CFP National championship in the 2019 season. Jefferson found himself in the NFL after the championship, and compared to now, his rookie deal didn’t look all that glorious. His initial contract was a humble 4-year $13.1 million in its entirety.

He started with an average salary of $3.2 million on his rookie contract and that number stands tall at $35 million this year. The growth is unparalleled. But the thing is, even as a rookie, his contract was fully guaranteed. He had a signing bonus of about $7.1 million at the time of signing the Vikings. But that chapter of his life is closed now.

It’s important to understand that Justin Jefferson is something else. He’s been breaking records ever since he stepped into the league. In his rookie year, Jefferson had 1,400 yards, the most in NFL’s history by a rookie! What’s even more interesting is the fact that he’s also the youngest receiver to ever have 1,809 yards in a season. The pattern should be evident by now. Jefferson has been tampering with NFL’s history, but in a good way. Year after year, he shows constant improvement and nothing else. If he only played the whole season last year, who knows how much more he could have accomplished?

Jefferson put up 1,074 yards and 5 touchdowns in just 10 games he played in the 2023 season. Last year’s week 5 game against the Chiefs caused problems with his thigh hamstring. Then he got a chest sternum bruise in week 14 against the Raiders and played his last game against Detroit in January this year. He was hoping for Cousins to stay with the Vikings this year, but that didn’t happen. So what’s next?

It’s a new season with a new signal caller. There’s an added responsibility of showing the ropes to JJ McCarthy who’s going to throw him a lot. Hopefully, he’s healthy now. All that’s left to witness is the US Bank Stadium echoing with drum beats and loud “Skol” chants when the Vikings open the season against the Giants in about 2 months. So who’s waiting for him to hit the griddy after his first touchdown of the 2024 season?
