The NFL offseason is basically reality TV at this point—unexpected trades, record-breaking contracts, and teams making bold, franchise-altering moves. Quarterbacks are switching teams like it’s a fantasy draft. And some of the biggest names in the league are gearing up for a fresh start in new colors. One team, in particular, just hit the reset button on their QB situation. While another might be preparing to welcome a four-time MVP into the mix. If you thought last season was wild, just wait—this offseason is about to change everything.
The latest moves are shaking up the league big time. The New York Jets just made a power move, locking in Justin Fields on a two-year, $40 million deal, with $30 million guaranteed. With Aaron Rodgers’ future in New York done, Fields now gets a fresh start and a shot to prove he’s the long-term guy for a team that’s been QB-starved forever.
Fields, 26, was a first-round pick in 2021, but let’s be real—his time in Chicago was a mess. The Bears never fully built around him, and after three inconsistent seasons, they shipped him off to Pittsburgh. In a short stint there, Fields showed flashes, stepping in for an injured Russell Wilson and leading the Steelers to a 4-2 record in six starts. Now, he lands in New York with a massive opportunity to take over as QB1.

Jets and Steelers’ QB exchange amid NFL roster carousel?
The Jets’ move is low key hilarious because they originally passed on Fields in the 2021 Draft to take Zach Wilson. And we all know how that turned out. Now, they’re basically hitting the undo button, hoping Fields can fix their QB struggles. The best part? He’s reuniting with his old Ohio State teammate, Garrett Wilson, giving the Jets’ offense instant chemistry. With new OC Tanner Engstrand calling plays, expect them to fully unleash Fields’ mobility and playmaking skills.
Meanwhile, Aaron Rodgers is back in the headlines, and it looks like Mike Tomlin wants him in Pittsburgh. Reports say the Steelers are eyeing Rodgers as Fields’ replacement (as jarring as that sounds). It could make for an absolutely stacked QB room if Russell Wilson sticks around. Imagine those two Super Bowl winners putting their heads together to pull out bombs and Hail Mary’s left, right, and center. Besides, now there’s DK Metcalf as a potential target in black and gold.

Rodgers, 41, just wrapped up a chaotic two years with the Jets. First year? ACL gone in four snaps. Second year? Bounced back, played all 17 games, and dropped 3,897 yards, 28 TDs, and 11 picks. Not too shabby for a guy people keep calling ‘washed.’ But now, with the Jets moving on to Justin Fields, Rodgers might be looking for one last ride with a new squad.
The Steelers’ QB room is hella confusing right now. Let’s be real: they can’t afford A-Rod and Mr. Unlimited on the same roster. Let’s also be real that Russell hasn’t been elite for a while. Pittsburgh wants someone elite. The team needs a real leader. Even at his age, Rodgers might be the answer. Pittsburgh is also stacking up weapons. They just made a monster move, trading for Metcalf and handing him a five-year, $150M bag. If Rodgers wants to run it back for one last Super Bowl push, the Steelers might be his best shot.
What’s your perspective on:
Can Justin Fields finally be the savior the Jets have been waiting for all these years?
Have an interesting take?
Former NFL GM Mike Tannenbaum called this potential Rodgers-Steelers linkup a “marriage of convenience“—Rodgers wants a shot at another ring, and Pittsburgh needs a QB who actually has that dog in him. Nothing’s official yet, but the Steelers are seriously pushing for this. If it happens, the AFC is about to get real spicy.
This move would break the internet. Rodgers gets a fresh start, the Steelers go from ‘maybe a wild card team’ to actual contenders, and the AFC gets even more stacked. Stay locked in—this saga ain’t over.

Big money moves around the league
While the QB drama steals the spotlight, other teams are making big moves too. The 49ers just secured former Jaguars TE Luke Farrell on a three-year, $20.25 million deal, with $11 million guaranteed. With George Kittle constantly dealing with injuries, San Francisco needed some depth, and Farrell is the perfect guy to step in when needed. The Cardinals, on the other hand, are going all-in on defense, signing edge rusher Josh Sweat to a four-year, $76.4 million contract, with $41 million guaranteed. Sweat balled out for the Eagles and now joins a Cardinals team desperate for a dominant pass rusher. Arizona is clearly building for the future, and this move proves they’re not messing around.
In Buffalo, Josh Allen just got another weapon—the Bills signed ex-Chargers WR Josh Palmer on a three-year, $36 million deal. Palmer had some solid moments in LA, but in Buffalo’s high-powered offense, he could level up. The Broncos also made a splash, locking in safety Talanoa Hufanga on a three-year, $45 million deal, with $20 million guaranteed. Hufanga is a hard-hitting playmaker, and Denver badly needed an upgrade in the secondary. With the Broncos rebuilding their defense, this move could be a game-changer for their unit.
And then there’s the Patriots, who just went full send and secured Milton Williams on a massive four-year, $104 million deal, with $63 million guaranteed. The Panthers were in the mix, but New England wasn’t about to lose out. Williams is an absolute force on the defensive line, and the Patriots clearly believe he’s worth every penny as they look to rebuild their defense into an elite unit again.
