In the 2024 NFL season, the Bears had an unforeseen journey. The owner Kevin Warren must be happy after drafting 2022 Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams, but the results just lowered their morale. After 15 weeks, they are now at a 4-10 win-loss record. 3-time Julian Edelman also revealed his stance on the changes they should make in the 2025 offseason, particularly about hiring Mike Vrabel as head coach.
During the December 18 episode of The Herd With Colin Cowherd show, the host brought out the challenges at the Bears. Edelman made a strong remark that would also alert the Bears’ owner, “If he (Vrabel) was interested in the Bears, they should definitely hire him. They need a culture guy like I know that’s what you call him, but they need someone that’s going to grab someone by the back of the neck, and say, hey I need to talk to you in the hallway because you’re slouching or you’re doing this. They need an accountability guy.” That’s right. Da Bears would like someone like Vrabel who could instill discipline in the team.

Even at the Titans, he made his presence felt in the locker room with his attitude and approach to the games. An intense personality is reflected in his coaching. However, the players respected him for his work ethic. That’s what the Bears need at this moment. Vrabel left the Titans with a 54-45 win-loss record.
Julian Edelman continued his Vrabel praise and added, “He was so smart that he could get under your skin and you couldn’t do anything about it. Because he knew your assignment, he knew his assignment. And that’s the kind of guy you need, you need an a—— and that’s what they’re lacking in that locker room.” This is a huge endorsement for the head coach prospect.
While it’s clear, that the Bears would be in the market for a head coach, the name is not clear. The rumors are strong that Vrabel could land there. It would be exciting.
Julian Edelman’s praise makes the hiring rumors strong
The Bears understand that they have talent in the form of Caleb Williams. But they need a strong O-line to support him. After losing the week 15 game against the Lions, the O-line is ranked 16th. In such a scenario, Vrabel can do wonders. However, they would need to give him full freedom to execute his actions.

He could also have his objections to different hirings. It showed in 2023 when he didn’t like the Titans’ management decision to hire Ron Carthon as their GM. It created friction, which ultimately led to his parting ways with the franchise. However, the Bears would like to at least have a talk with him in the 2024 offseason.
