The whole NFL saw what happened at Arrowhead Stadium in the divisional game between Patrick Mahomes‘ Chiefs and Texans. And we are not talking about the victories, but the controversial fouls by refs. Though Clay Martin, the referee, has justified his stand on the calls that he made, people are not satisfied with it. And the repercussions of the divisional game are not over as the three-time Super Bowl champion and SB MVP Julian Edelman has revealed a shocking fact about Tom Brady.
Former Patriots star Edelman was on the Colin Cowherd show. He discussed several experiences and anecdotes, but when the conversation steered to the topic of ‘flopping,’ he shocked everybody with a bold experience. When Colin Cowherd asked him about flopping, he casually explained how this game has changed while mentioning Tom Brady. Per Edelman: “This isn’t 1992. This isn’t 1985. This isn’t early 2000s football. The game has completely changed and the rules have changed. So if you know you’re playing against the face of the organ of the league, Patrick Mahomes, if you have to think about it, let it go.”
Talking about the Seven-time Super Bowl champion, Edelman added, “That’s what Bill used to always say. I remember being on the other side seeing a late hit on Brady or roughing the passer on Brady where I’m like probably wasn’t there, but it’s Tom Brady, he has already had five Super Bowls you guys got to understand the situation of the game.” But the most important point he made was the real BTS of referees and their groups on the field.

“We know this. The referee group likes to throw it close here. You got to know the situation, so yeah it’s a terrible call, but it ain’t going anywhere because these guys make too much money.” Basically, Edelman wanted everybody to be convinced that the game has changed and you probably have to go with the flow.
Actually, Edelman was on point with respect to the money part. The NFL posted on Instagram about Patrick Mahomes becoming the brand ambassador for the 15-billion-dollar company Invisalign. What do y’all think about this? If all players were the same in the league, why did they post about Patrick Mahomes’ affiliation with Invisalign when dozens of players have already signed contracts with the same company? That’s what Edelman wanted to point out.
And talking about the flopping, false calling, and biases, per him it has always existed there in the game. But football fans couldn’t tolerate the number of wrongdoings refs made in the Chiefs’ game vs Texans, especially because players from the Houston team called the refs out..

In the Texans-Chiefs game, the Texans were called eight freaking times. The ‘Will Anderson foul’ was a nasty one that took a big hit from fans and Anderson also reacted to it. Meanwhile, fans have trolled Patrick Mahomes for flopping on the sideline for just a touch by the Texans player, which is not new to any sport in the world.
So, one fan reacted to it as “He slows on purpose to get pushed and then flops. I really like him but someone will have to smash him to get him to stop it. Officials allow it and the players will have to stop it themselves. It is 15 yards either way now.” While another fan has commented, “Should be a penalty on Mahomes for sure.. embellishing.” Everyone on the sideline believed Mahomes had done it strategically.

The calls are mounting for the Chiefs to play clean football. The Chiefs owner and Patrick Mahomes have also reacted to it already. But we need to wait for what strict action the NFL will be taking on the controversial call. The story isn’t over, and it will continue to create ripples as we await the most important games.
