Imagine being Brock Purdy—the guy who went from being the NFL Draft’s “Mr. Irrelevant” to leading the 49ers on some epic playoff runs. One minute, you’re dodging blitzes and making highlight-reel throws; the next, you’re navigating the wild world of contract negotiations, with everyone debating your worth. Talk about a plot twist, right? But hey, it’s not all about business.
Sure, this NFL offseason is giving a tough time to Purdy—only if we’re talking about the NFL side of his life. But his personal life? Well, that’s the fancy part. Let’s take a trip down memory lane. Oh no, we aren’t going to talk about the 49ers losing the Super Bowl to the Chiefs. Seriously, even Purdy won’t like to talk about that at this point. We’re talking about March 9, 2024, when the 49ers QB tied the knot with his girlfriend, Jenna Brandt.
That’s enough clues to guess what we’re talking about. On Monday, Purdy took to his official Instagram handle and shared one beautiful year of togetherness with his wife. He shared a few glimpses of her wife on her IG stories, reflecting her love and immense support throughout his career. “1 year of marriage with my beautiful wife,” he captioned one of his stories.

Purdy proposed to Brandt in Saint Cloud, Florida, when he kneeled down and asked her to be his wife. The couple got engaged back in July 2023. Purdy shared the news on social media where he captioned, “My Jenna girl forever.” Just less than a year later, the couple tied the knot on March 9, 2024. Fast forward to now and Brock and Jenna are now celebrating their first wedding anniversary. Purdy shared a picture of their wedding day and wrote, “You and me forever. I love you @jennapurdyy.”
Now let’s be real—when the 49ers drafted Purdy with the final pick (262nd) of the 2022 NFL draft, the guy was dubbed “Mr Irrelevant.” Ever since then, Jenna has been the biggest cheerleader of the 25-year-old QB. And the interesting part? Purdy never feels shy about appreciating his wife for the support. Take his recent IG story, for instance, where he wrote, “Wouldn’t be able to do this thing without you girl!!”
The result? The guy shut down the doubters and took the 49ers all the way to the Super Bowl in just his second season. Sure, he didn’t get to hoist the Lombardi, and of course—last season didn’t exactly live up to the hype. But come on, that’s hardly the end of the road for him. Plus, the guy’s also looking for a contract extension.
Brock Purdy is fighting an inside battle
Brock Purdy came to San Francisco to prove everyone wrong—and the guy eventually did the exact thing. In his rookie year, the guy had a 5-0 record. And then came his sophomore season when he led the Niners to Super Bowl LVIII with a 12-3 record. Though his 2024 season saw a reversal with a poor 6-9 record in 15 games, he definitely left a mark in his first three seasons.
Fast forward to now and Purdy will enter the final season of his rookie deal. That said, the front office is trying their best to keep Purdy in San Francisco. The 49ers GM John Lynch and HC Kyle Shanahan admitted that they want to go ahead with Purdy. But at what cost? Because that’s the big question. Some suggest that Purdy will stack up a $60M per season deal while the others believe a much lower tab on his value. Say, $45M a year. Yeah, just like that.

Brock Purdy: Overrated or the 49ers' future? What's your take on his $60M potential?
Have an interesting take?
Last week, reporter and betting analyst Jason La Canfora reported on his social media handle that “49ers playing hardball with Purdy is very on brand. Starting your offers at $45M a year is something.” That’s definitely far less than what the QBs are signing lately.

However, San Francisco Standard reporter David Lombardi cleared stance on Purdy’s contract extension. “I will say that Purdy will not sign for $45 million,” he said. “Ultimately, this contract is going to be much more valuable than that and ultimately, we’re going to judge this contract by the structure and the full guarantees and not the apy.”

Well, if we look at this situation with the salary cap space, then it’s likely the Niners are going to offer a much bigger contract extension to Purdy. The reason? You see, the San Francisco team is in a full reset mood. They’ve already traded Deebo Samuel to the Commanders. Plus, they already informed their DT Javon Hargrave, that they will part ways with him on March 12.
So yeah, the 49ers are surely cooking something. Whether it is to rebuild their roster or the clear space for Purdy to sign a contract extension, there’s no clue. However, the odds are favoring both. We just have to wait for the front office to announce their next big moves.
