History has been made in the professional sports world. For anyone who missed it, Juan Soto is on his way to signing the largest contract in any sport. It is a 15-year contract with the New York Mets for a total of $765 million. Just wow. This is a significant thing, and it appears that all of this money has caused the NFL to fade as a professional option. Ouch. Even legends of the NFL are claiming that maybe MLB can be a better career option. Wait, what?

On an episode of Get Up ESPN, a conversation about this big contract was taking place. Everyone was amazed at how big MLB has become over time. Furthermore, NFL legends such as Damien Woody noted that simply knowing the value of Juan Soto’s contract would make anyone want to play in MLB. The icon even stated that if this kind of money can be made, he would like his kid to pursue baseball.

Woody stated, “To my son Jacoby, my youngest son. I am about to put you on the treadmill, you used to be a lamin I am about to put you on the treadmill. Because of that baseball money that’s a whole other world baby.”

While Woody’s reaction to Juan Soto’s deal was amusing, he was not alone in his desire for his son to pursue a career in baseball. Former quarterback Dan Orlovsky also had the same opinion, and he said that his kid Hunter no longer needed to go to school. The legend stated that he would like to give his son a bat to swing until he earns that amount of money.

Dan Orlovsky stated, “Hunter is gonna go play baseball every day for the rest of his life to make that money. Get it done, dude. No more school.” While some of these statements harmed the NFL’s prestige. It appears that all reporters are also doing the same thing.

At first glance, this statement appears to be a joke, but oh man, it is true. ESPN reporter Adam Schefter provided confirmation that this is in fact true. The man underlined that Juan Soto had signed this contract in a post on his X account. The reporter recalled the time when Robert Kraft purchased the New England Patriots. For those who don’t remember, it happened in 1994, when Kraft paid $172 million for the franchise.

Adam Schefter’s tweet read, “Robert Kraft, as an example, once bought the New England Patriots for $172 million….” For more comparison, Patrick Mahomes, the face of the NFL, has a 10-year contract which is worth $450 million.
