The Washington Commanders last made it to the playoffs in 2020. They made it to the Wild Card round despite a losing record. In fact, they last had a winning record in 2015. Fast forward 3 years and they are 4-11 and at the bottom of their division. Even though the Commanders have two games left, they won’t be able to make it to the playoffs.

After previous owner Dan Snyder sold his stake to Josh Harris for a hefty $6.05 billion in July, fans thought that a renaissance was on the horizon. But it seems that Harris has more pressing matters to tend to than his football team.

Front Office Sports took to X to share that Josh Harris and David Blitzer, who together have stakes in several sports teams such as the Commanders, the basketball team Philadelphia 76ers, and the hockey team, the New Jersey Devils, have made a big purchase! They bought an 80% stake in a 115-acre youth sports complex at Hall of Fame Village in Canton, Ohio. The value of their purchase? A whopping $10 million.

The sports complex houses eight synthetic turfs that have hosted various sports tournaments. After acquiring the stake, the two released a statement that they also will invest in systems, technologies, and facilities in the complex. But Commanders fans are questioning Harris’s devotion to his football team and whether the money could be spent better elsewhere.

Has Harris got his priorities wrong?

Earlier in November, Harris announced that he was building a new stadium for the Commanders in Washington. For now, their home stadium is FedEx Field, which is located in the state of Maryland. He had already committed $40 million for renovations to FedEx Field, then a new stadium, and now a sports complex.
