Trade options are up in the air! With the new league year approaching, every NFL team is making efforts to free up some cap space. Obviously, they cannot release certain stars, thus the best alternative is to trade them. Everyone has already seen significant trades involving Geno Smith, Deebo Samuel, and Jonah Jackson. And now it is time for the Buffalo Bills. Looks like Josh Allen‘s team will make a deal to get one of their LBs out.
The Buffalo Bills enjoyed a fantastic season last year, where they fell just short. After that successful season, they would like to continue their dominance. And in between this, the rumors have circulated that the team is looking to move experienced LB Von Miller to free up some cap money. Actually, they may be doing this ahead of the NFL Draft to ensure they have some solid options. Hmm, well that sounds like an option. Even speculations are that QB Josh Allen understands that his pairing with Miller has not worked well.

So, if the rumors are to be believed, Von Miller could be headed to the Cleveland Browns. The club had a poor 3-14 season due to a mix of issues, the majority of which were related to their defense. Ouch. If you recall, their defensive cornerstone, Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, was hurt early in the season. Now that’s bad luck. After this injury, they had a massive nightmare of a season. Without a solid leader, the players made huge miscommunications on defense, and collapse became a daily routine.

The Browns have a lot of cap room, and signing Von Miller could help them find stability. They can match him with a young pass rusher to form a strong defense as well as attack. On the other hand, if Miller leaves Josh Allen’s team, they will save $8.4 million in cap space. So it’s a win-win situation for both clubs. We’ve seen many cases like this where a big player is traded just because a team needs some free cap space. A perfect example may be Khalil Mack, who went from the Raiders to the Bears, then the Bears to the Chargers, just because of his high cap.

Although there has been a lot of chatter about this trade, how sure are we that it will happen? And who would the Bills want to replace Miller?
Is Von Miller’s trade really happening?
There is another reason why the Bills can trade the LB. The days of Von Miller being a capable every-down pass-rusher are long gone. Age and injuries have taken their toll on him, and since tearing his ACL in 2022, things haven’t gone well for him. Can you believe the man only played 25-30% of defensive snaps in 2023 and 2024? That’s extremely low in comparison to what the Bills are paying him. And, honestly, this much can be delivered by any typical LB, so why invest more money?

Initially, this move was rumored, but Mark Gaughan of the Buffalo News has confirmed that the Bills want Miller out. So, there you go. It is now confirmed that the squad would like to add a new player to their roster. Any guesses on who it is? Some rumors suggest that it could be Joey Bosa. The Chargers released the five-time Pro Bowler because of his injuries and tough competition. He might be a wonderful fit for the Bills, and pairing him alongside Josh Allen could be one of the team’s best moves.

Apart from Bosa, the team can also target Khalil Mack, Preston Smith, and Azeez Ojulari. And if they don’t like them, they can always enter the draft. But, in the end, all will depend on Josh Allen, and who can work well with him. Tell us what you think. Who could be Josh Allen’s partner for the next season?
