Just like every other team out there, the Buffalo Bills are also trying to keep up with their cap spaces. People like Dion Dawkins and AJ Epenesa have already got their contracts extended from here on out, but things are a bit different when their QB Josh Allen is concerned. The readjustment of his contract was a massive deal for the Buffalo team.

The Bills renegotiating with Allen is nothing new but has quickly taken the football world by storm. A couple of posts on X give the right picture of what is going on with the Bills and their QB. One would hope that the Bills sign some new talent in the off-season with the support of the extra $30 million increase in cap and what they’ve saved just now.

One such post came from Field Yates, who pointed out that the Bills and Josh Allen have re-negotiated their contract. According to this new deal, the Buffalo team has converted most of Allen’s 2024 salary into a signing bonus. This move has resulted in the Bills saving $16.7 million in cap space. If we look at the bigger picture, Allen now has a cap hit of $30.3 million

Before the readjustment, the Bills had about $4 million in cap space but now they have an additional $16.7 million to play with. The team’s top priority remains to gain a No. 2 wide receiver. Gabe Davis, their receiver went on to sign with the Jacksonville Jaguars in the off-season. The Buffalo team has also cut Mitch Morse, Jordan Poyer, and Tre’Davious White, creating some more cap space.

The Bills have put their money to good use and have re-signed AJ Epenesa, Dion Dawkins, and the DB Cam Lewis. Per sources, the team hasn’t picked up anyone new and is mending existing relations with their roster currently.

The Bills sort themselves out internally

The team signed their DT Dawkins to a 3-year extension and the 3x Pro Bowler will remain through the 2027 season. In 2023, Dawkins allowed a 6.9% pressure rate, 3rd-lowest among left tackles according to Next Gen Stats. The financial details of his contract are not available to the public yet, but the Buffalo team made the news official on their X.

Another person to watch out for is their DB Cam Lewis, who stays with the Bills for two more seasons. Again, the financial details of his contract are not out yet. But the DB has started 4 years for the Bills, and it would be hard for them to let go of him right now.
