Hey NFL world, the speculations for NFL MVP are over. Bills superstar quarterback Josh Allen has taken over ownership of the NFL MVP award from Baltimore Ravens Lamar Jackson. And what do you think, how many votes have made Allen win his first MVP? Allen received 27 votes to narrowly squeak past Jackson, who trailed by only four votes.
As this most awaited news has landed in New Orleans, another important update about Josh Allen’s bonus has come out. Spotrac has reported, “With his MVP honor, #Bills QB Josh Allen secures a $1.5M bonus in 2024.” The MVP news must have become a sigh of relief for Allen’s fans after yet another heartbreak in the championship round this year. The cherry on top being that it is is higher than his base salary of $1,125,000 for the 2024 season. He has received his first MVP award, also beating Joe Burrow, Jared Goff, and Saquon Barkley on the final shortlist. Though the cutthroat competition was only between Allen and Jackson.

But fans have called it unfair, citing Josh Allen’s stats are thin in comparison to Lamar Jackson’s. Statistically, Josh Allen has thrown for 3731 yards with a 63.6 completion percentage in the regular season. And in order to land 27 touchdowns, he faced six interceptions. Importantly, Allen is first in QB rating with 77.3. And talking about Lamar Jackson’s stats in the regular season, he has passed for 4172 yards and was able to achieve a 66.7 completion percentage. Jackson is 2nd in passing TDs in the entire NFL. And he has thrown only four interceptions.
However, they appear to overlook the rushing stats for both QBs. Allen converted his 531 yards into 12 TDs while Jackson had only 4 TDs from his 915 yards. Sure, the numbers don’t always present a complete or conclusive picture, but we thought we’d present them anyway.
Anyway, many experts, former players, and media personalities have shown mixed interest in both the players. And the way the MVP race has culminated. Many fans are not satisfied with it and, naturally, expressed themselves on the internet.

One fan called the MVP award an act of pity on X, saying, “If stats are most important, Lamar Jackson is the MVP. If wins are most important, Patrick Mahomes is the MVP. If feeling bad that somebody has never won an award before is most important, Josh Allen is the MVP.” But one Buffalo fan confronted it, replying, “Lamar won last year though with not the greatest stats.” But hold on, do not think the MVP debate is only swirling around the Ravens and Bills this year.

After the MVP Award was declared, one Kansas City fan reacted on X, “I like your reasoning but I honestly think Mahomes has regressed to the point that he’s not even in the conversation for best QB. He lost Tyreek, Kelce is getting older and his RBs are inconsistent. Lamar should win hands down…” One Philly fan also jumped into the MVP Awards convo, highlighting Saquon Barkley: “If being the most valuable player is most important, Saquon Barkley is the MVP. The Eagles may not even make the playoffs without Saquon.” Well, if you see the votes, the Eagles RB ended up in 3rd place.
