Is there still a chance for Josh Allen to do wonders without his no. 1 wide receiver, Stefon Diggs? According to some analysts, the Buffalo Bills have stepped back from being a Super Bowl contender after this move, and Josh Allen might find himself in trouble in the long-run with the Bills.
However, there are some other NFL analysts who still believe in Allen’s ability. Pat McAfee and his team highlighted an approach for Allen and the team, citing examples from Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers’ condition.

In a latest episode of the Pat McAfee Show, host McAfee and co-hosts Boston Connor and Ty Schmit, discussed the Bills’ scenario post breakup with Stefon Diggs, especially its impact on the offense. Their discussion involved analyzing the decision to trade Diggs, the dynamics of quarterback-wide receiver relationship, and the challenges teams face in retaining top talent due to financial constraints. Pat McAfee played Brandon Beane’s recent press conference video after Diggs’ exit.
In the conference, the GM reflected on how Diggs transformed into an All-Pro receiver after joining the team, suggesting that both sides benefited from the partnership. Despite understanding the need for change, it’s acknowledged that losing a star player like Diggs presents challenges for the team’s offensive and defensive strategies. However, co-host Ty Schmit has a way out of this problem for the Bills. He discussed the broader trend in the NFL, where elite quarterbacks often lose top receivers due to financial reasons or other factors.
He stated examples of Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers, saying, “Just got to assume that the next team is going to be just as good, or hopefully better than the previous one…. Brady and Manning and Rodgers and guys like those types of quarterbacks create stars. You can go out and pay a guy top dollar if he’s already established as one of the best guys in the league but the way they’ve paid Josh Allen and we’ve watched him how good he is, they obviously believe he’s one of those guys where if they draft a couple of receivers this year and they signed Curtis Samuel, I think like they believe that he can create a star like they don’t need to be paying a guy top dollar in order for them to get production at receiver well…”
Hence, it’s suggested that the Bills may adopt a similar approach by relying on Josh Allen’s talent and developing other offensive weapons like Dalton King and James Cook. So, does that mean, although the era of Diggs has ended with the franchise, the team hasn’t dissolved yet, as they are continuing to rise in the league.

Will the Bills and their QB sustain without Stefon Diggs?
The Bills face a challenge following Stefon Diggs’ departure, but quarterback Josh Allen remains a key asset. Despite not winning a championship since 1965, Allen’s leadership has kept the team competitive, earning him MVP votes in multiple seasons.
With a 63-30 record under Allen’s helm, the team’s offensive strategy shifted after the departure of former coordinators Brian Daboll and Ken Dorsey, leading to a more diversified approach and less reliance on Diggs. Despite this Allen’s performance in the playoffs remained strong, showcasing his ability to lead the team even without a dominant receiver.
