The Packers have done it. They did the first shutout of the 2024 season in week 16 by defeating the Saints 34-0. The HC Matt LaFleur and the QB Jordan Love were on Cloud 9. With this win, they took their win-loss record to 11-4 and qualified for the playoffs. This is their 5th postseason in 6 years. However, the Packers QB still wants his O-line to improve.

Speaking at the post-game conference, he pointed out that their offense could have scored more points. Love said, “I still think there’s a lot more points for us, a lot more big-time plays. There’s still just some stuff we’re not hitting on.” The fans are pumped up after the win. The team has improved by leaps and strides.

There were some plays that showed that the offense lacked the connection. At the 2:02 mark in the second quarter, on 3rd & 4, Jordan Love made a long pass to the WR Christian Watson. But the receiver was completely out of place, as the ball fell 2-3 yards ahead of him.

It happened again in the 3rd quarter. On 3rd & 6 at the 7:11 mark, the Packers QB made a left pass to WR Jayden Reed, who couldn’t collect it while the Saints’ CB Alontae Taylor put pressure on the receiver. So, in plays where the man-to-man marking was good, even the Packers stumbled.

However, the fans are excited to watch their team in the playoffs. They have cleared the first stage of the season. Now begins the high-pressure time.

After achieving the first shutout of the season, that too with a high margin of 34-0, the adrenaline was running high. The winning signal caller could not control his emotions. Feeling happy about the achievement, he said, “It’s big time. That’s something that obviously the goal is Super Bowl, so that’s the first step right there.” That’s understandable. He also wants the first trophy of his career.

With a 66.0 QBR, Jordan Love sits 9th in the league. But his presence overall has been great for the locker room. He is playing in his 5th year in the league and the franchise is paying him well. After signing the 4-year, $220 million extension, he earns $55 million each year. However, if they win the Super Bowl, it would be crazy for the team, which has been waiting since 2010, when Aaron Rodgers led them to the Lombardi Trophy.

That would raise the stakes for HC LaFleur, who is also looking for his first Super Bowl. For now, it’s the crucial time to prepare their strategies for the postseason. They would want to go all in.
