What unfolded in the Detroit Lions vs. Green Bay Packers game can only be described as a Thanksgiving miracle. The Packers lineup was littered with injuries and they were 5-6 entering the gridiron, while the Lions were 8-3. The Lions were about as good as it gets and yet the Packers managed to vanquish them.
Packers fans themselves had given up on the game. They thought it would be good if they could lose by 20 points or fewer, much less think that they could win against the Lions. But fate – and Jordan Love – came through for them when they needed them the most.

In the Pat McAfee Show, all the hosts and co-hosts showered praise on the 25-year-old. McAfee said, “Jordan can be the guy for your team going forward.” He posted a clip of the podcast with the caption, “Jordan Love looked UNBELIEVABLE on Thanksgiving.” His co-host, Ty Schmit, agreed with him, “When he plays his A-game, he is very, very good.”

It seems like Love and Co, is just getting started. In last week’s win over the Los Angeles Chargers, they put their best offensive foot forward in the season until then. But in the Thanksgiving game, the squad outdid themselves. While doubters may argue that winning against a defense that ranked second-last in the game was not a big deal, the Lions had a top-10 defense. And the Packers still won. However, their offense had a big role to play in this victory.
The offensive game was the Packers’ best this season
In the game, Love completed more than 68% of his passes for 268 yards and recorded 3 touchdowns and 0 interceptions. On the game’s opening play, he targeted Christian Watson, who was 53 yards away. With that pass, he set a career milestone of completing his first 50-yard plus pass. After the game, head coach LaFleur said that he noticed a “night and day” difference in the QB’s performance.

In the first 10 games of the season, they scored 20 points or fewer in 7 of them. In the Lions game, they scored 20 points in the first quarter! And then went on to win 29-22. They then added 9 points more but failed to score anything in the fourth quarter. The Lions had been trailing 29-14 when the third quarter got over, but managed a two-point conversion to narrow the defeat margin.

The win has improved the Packers’ score to 5-6 and has rekindled hope in the Cheeseheads that their team can still make it to the playoffs. Although the Packers have tougher opponents in the week ahead, if Love and his squad continue to play at the same level, no contender is unbeatable!
