When he’s not commanding the huddle at Lambeau, Jordan Love is quietly becoming a community hero. Whether he’s surprising kids with holiday shopping sprees, handing out winter coats to families in need, or helping strangers stuck in snowbanks, Love’s off-the-field moves reveal a quarterback driven by compassion as much as competition. It also showcases the Green Bay Packers QB’s determination to give back to the community. And now, Love, who is known for his campaign to inspire kids to participate in sports, once again captured fans’ attention.
Over the years, he has been hosting a free football camp in his hometown of Bakersfield. This week, Love returned to his stomping grounds at Liberty High School for the third year running. Love’s NFL journey was shaped through similar camps conducted by Derek Carr and David Carr in Bakersfield, and he seems keen to inspire others in the same way.
During this year’s camp, Love trained the students to get them ready for their upcoming season. Students aged 8-18 went through 18 drills, as they prepared for the upcoming season. But Love wasn’t alone in this venture.

He was joined by Cardinals LB and another Bakersfield hero, Krys Barnes, just like last year. Youth sports organization, FlexWork Sports Management, shared an IG post mentioning, “Jordan Love, Krys Barnes & the Hands of 10ve Foundation hosted their 3rd annual hometown community youth football camp in Bakersfield. Making memories and changing lives one kid at a time!”
In one of the pictures, they were both seen handing over a paycheck of 10,000 and no/100 dollars to the youth player and ‘Camper of the day’. They were smiling while posing with the aspirational football player holding the paycheck. Love and his ‘Hands of 10ve Foundation’ have been hosting this event for three years consecutively, helping the community with the fundamentals of the sport. Jordan, 26, started the Hands of 10ve Foundation in honor of his father, Orbin Love, a law enforcement officer.
Talking about the camp on Saturday, Love said, “First thing is it always starts with that work, you got to put hard work in! Chase your dreams whatever those dreams may be don’t ever think they’re unattainable. I just want to be that example for them.”
Both Jordan Love and Krys Barnes graduated from Liberty High School in 2016. Jordan Love took his talents to Utah State, carving out a path to Division 1 stardom, while Krys Barnes headed west to shine at UCLA. Their football journeys diverged, but fate had a reunion in store.
In 2020, Love was selected in the first round of the NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers. That same year, Barnes joined the team as an undrafted free agent, bringing the former youth teammates full circle, this time under the bright lights of Lambeau. However, in 2023, Barnes signed with the Arizona Cardinals.
Meanwhile, Barnes also talked about the initiative and how he wanted to give back after being part of Derek Carr’s camps in his youth.

Is Jordan Love's leadership off the field as impactful as his performance on it?

“Derek Carr had a couple camps here when we were younger. This camp is for everybody like his was. It’s been a blessing to be able to do what those guys did for us, when we were younger. This platform today is to give back to the children of Bakersfield from 8-18. I want to be a tremendous support for them with more than just football.”
He also took to his IG story to talk about the latest edition of their camp and wrote, “Camp #3 with @jordan3love and was the best one yet!! See y’all next year.”
Interestingly, more than 200 students participated in the camp and went through over 15 drills. While the Packers QB handed out the 5-figure prize, his team announced the re-signing of their TE.

Jordan Love’s Packers re-sign TE
On Monday, Jordan Love’s team made the massive announcement regarding their TE. They signed FitzPatrick, who entered the offseason as a restricted free agent and did not receive a tender. Interestingly, with Packers TEs Luke Musgrave and Tucker Kraft vying for a 53-man tight end roster slot, the Packers brought FitzPatrick back.
However, Ben Sims is probably his best opponent for a roster berth and a third tight end position. Surprisingly, FitzPatrick was active in 2024 over Sims during the postseason.

After being eliminated from the Atlanta Falcons‘ practice squad on October 11, 2024, FitzPatrick appeared in 9 regular-season games with the Packers in 2024. He played 73 offensive snaps and 50 on special teams, while catching one pass for two yards. Per PFF, 53 snaps were as a run blocker, with 61 inline as a “Y” tight end, which amplified his blocking role. Indeed, the Packers are reinforcing their tight end room from a protect-Love-at-all-costs perspective with FitzPatrick’s return.
