In the heart of Titletown, where legends are born and championships are forged, a new QB is turning heads faster than a Brett Favre bullet pass. But it’s not just his spiral that’s got people talking. Imagine walking into your local Green Bay sports bar and overhearing this nugget: ‘Jordan Love is being compared to a $3 trillion tech giant?’ You might think the beer’s gone bad, but you’d be wrong.
Former NFL GM Mike Tannenbaum has just lobbed a staggering comparison, likening the Packers’ young gun to none other than NVIDIA- the Silicon Valley behemoth that’s been setting Wall Street on fire. He went full Gordon Gekko, comparing the young QB to the tech powerhouse on the NFL on ESPN segment.
What’s got Tannenbaum so bullish on Love? He rattled off a scouting report that reads like a Madden create-a-player come to life: “25 years old, can make all the throws, 6’4 high character, high processor, can make people miss, the sky is the limit.” The listed characteristics bring a noteworthy reminder of Love’s talent and assets in front of the eyes.

“If he was an IPO, it’d be like buying NVIDIA three years ago,” Tannenbaum declared. For those who don’t speak stockbroker language, that’s like saying Love’s potential is off the charts and definitely had been worth investing in as a rookie. NVIDIA’s market cap has skyrocketed by over 552,000% since January 1999- a growth rate that would make even Jerry Rice’s career stats blush.
“Outside of Patrick Mahomes, if we … were running an NFL team today there is nobody on the planet I’d rather have than Jordan Love.” @RealTannenbaum says the sky is the limit for Jordan Love 👀 pic.twitter.com/YQmcY5yFda

This resembles Love’s status at Green Bay, where he quickly rose to the challenge of being the QB1 and took the Packers to the playoffs in their first season after Aaron Rodgers. However, right before making these statements, the ex-GM had already made a comparison. What was this?
Well, as per him, he would rank the Packers phenom second only to the Kansas City Chiefs‘ Patrick Mahomes. The numbers back up the hype from last season, panning in favor of the Packers rising star.
2023 Season | Yards covered | Interceptions | Touchdowns |
Patrick Mahomes | 4,183 | 14 | 27 |
Jordan Love | 4,159 | 11 | 32 |
While the GM did not fall short in extending his praise to CJ Stroud and Josh Allen as well, Love undoubtedly remained on the top of his quality QB lists after Mahomes. Acknowledging the worthy efforts of the QB, this is not the first time Tannenbaum has shed praises for the rising signal-caller.
About three weeks ago, on ‘The Dan Patrick Show’, while choosing draft pick positions the current QBs would go at, the former GM revealed, “If we’re drafting NFL players, Patrick Mahomes is the obvious No. 1. But right behind him? Jordan Love.” Further, he remarked, “I’ve been turning this over in my mind constantly. Who else has that perfect cocktail of youth and skill like Love? His ceiling? It’s somewhere in the stratosphere.”
But what does Mahomes think about Love? He the Chiefs QB has taken notice of Love’s ascent. After the Chiefs’ loss to the Packers in 2023, Mahomes told reporters, “Jordan has gotten better and better, every single game. He’s always had the talent, but when you get more and more reps—I mean, he didn’t play for three years basically—so he’s gotten more and more reps, you can see how much more comfortable he’s getting.” That’s high praise from a guy who knows a thing or two about lighting up scoreboards!
Jordan Love’s journey from clipboard holder to potential MVP
Love’s journey to NFL stardom wasn’t exactly a straight shot to the end zone. He spent three years as Aaron Rodgers‘ understudy, watching and learning from one of the best to ever do it. When he finally got his shot, things started rougher than a rookie’s first training camp. The Packers stumbled to a 2-5 start, and the doubters were out in force, ready to write off Love as just another failed successor.

Despite falling short in the playoff phase, the Packers, under their QB, posed a successful turnaround from their initial regular season games. The NFC North runner-ups stood at a 9-8 record last season from an initial 2-5, ending their regular season with a 3-win streak.
Chris Simms, a former NFL quarterback analyst, even went on to draw an astonishing comparison, stating, “If [Green Bay Packers quarterback] Jordan Love played in the Super Bowl (with San Francisco), the 49ers would be the Super Bowl champions.”

Staying on top of this hype, Love is currently rated as +1400 at FanDuel Sportsbook for NFL MVP odds- equal with Lamar Jackson and Jalen Hurts. The 25-year-old has his moment to prove himself ready for more than being a mere future prospect.
