This week was terrible for the Minnesota Vikings. Not only did they lose against the Detroit Lions 24-30, but they also lost the chance to clinch the NFC North and guarantee a secure playoff spot. But last week’s loss also accompanied the bad news: an injury to their in-form WR Jordan Addison.

The 21-year-old rookie has had an inspiring debut season in the NFL, and with two crucial games still left, this injury couldn’t have come at a worse time for the Vikings. These remaining two games will determine their season. Will Addison’s injury hurt all their hard work?

Against the Lions in the second quarter, Addison collided with his QB, Nick Mullens, which forced him to sit out the entire game. Though it was reported being an ankle sprain, reports are coming out that he is being considered week to week. There is still no official word from the Vikings’ camp, but this will be hurtful for them.

Even though the Vikings have had trouble with injuries all season, young Addison had been the bedrock of their offense. Addison would be severely missed in action as one of the productive rookies this year at the WR position.

However, the Vikings must pull themselves up by their bootstraps. Even if Addison does not come to the gridiron, they have their target clear for the remainder of the games if they want to clinch the coveted Wildcard spot for the playoffs.

Currently in the eighth position, with only seven going for the playoffs, the Vikings have lost control of their destiny. They must rely on favorable results from elsewhere to grab a playoff berth. But they can make their lives easier by doing only one thing for the next few weeks: winning.

Their next matchup is against the Green Bay Packers, another hopeful in the Wildcard race in the NFC. After that, they face their tormentors again as they travel to Detroit to take on the Lions.
