Lamar Jackson and the Ravens fought hard but couldn’t close the gap in their 27-25 loss to the Bills. Fans held their breath until the very end, but Buffalo managed to keep the upper hand. This is after the 2020 season when the Bills are in the Conference Championship game. Josh Allen and Co. must be really proud. It was a payback for that brutal loss back in September when the Ravens crushed them 35-10 at M&T Bank Stadium. John Harbaugh’s players expressed themselves post-game.
As the Ravens process the heartbreak, things are heating up in the locker room. Cornerback Marlon Humphrey has dropped a bold message for the team. (Adding a new layer of intrigue to the aftermath of this loss). Losing a game that close stings. But it’s not just the defeat that’s bothering him. Talking to the media, Humphrey said, “This team is done. This sounds kind of just not really a great answer. But no, there’s only a select few people that know they’re gonna be here next year. There really ain’t a true message like this team is done.” Those were some bold comments from the CB.

Now, what could the CB be hinting at? Is this just the frustration of a tough loss talking, or are there bigger shakeups on the horizon for the Ravens? “But when I look at it, some guys will be here, some guys won’t, who knows what. I know I got no more years guaranteed on this existing contract. So it’s whatever message you have, you could be on this team, you could be on another team, some guys will stay, some guys will leave. And I fall into that same bucket. So the message is, you lost, get over it,” added Humphrey.
Honestly, it’s a rough one for the Ravens. Losing by just two points after coming so far hurts. And even QB Lamar Jackson couldn’t shake the guilt from this close defeat.
Lamar Jackson owns up to defeat
The Ravens tight end Mark Andrews had a tough day at the office in a game that was already hanging by a thread. With just over 8 minutes left and the Ravens trailing 24-19, Andrews fumbled a critical catch that would’ve moved the chains in Bills territory. The Bills recovered and turned that mistake into a field goal, pushing the lead to 27-19. Fast forward to the final moments of the game—Ravens driving 88 yards for a touchdown, and Mark was in position to help tie things up with a 2-point conversion. Lamar Jackson found him right at the goal line on a designed rollout, and it looked like an easy connection. But as Andrews fell back into the end zone, he lost control of the ball, and the chance slipped away.
QB Lamar Jackson didn’t hide his frustration after the Ravens’ heart-wrenching loss. The QB finished Sunday’s game with 18-of-25 for 254 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception. But those stats didn’t offer much consolation. The QB didn’t hold back in the post-game interview, venting his frustration with brutal honesty: “Turnovers play a factor. Penalties play a factor. Tonight, turnovers. Can’t have that s***. That’s why we lost the game.”
If that wasn’t enough weight on his shoulders, Lamar made it personal, taking full accountability. “I’m the leader. I’ve got to protect the ball,” said Jackson. Not only that, when asked about Mark Andrews’ brutal fumble, Jackson had his back, saying, “I talked to him on the sideline. I’m just as hurt as Mark. I don’t—ain’t his fault. All of us played a factor in that game. It’s a team effort.” Coach Harbaugh also backed up the TE, saying, “There’s nobody that has more heart and cares more and fights more than Mark. We wouldn’t be here without Mark. That’s what you say to him.“
It was a tough day for the Ravens, and heartbreaking for everyone rooting for them. But maybe, next time!
