The Baltimore Ravens have been facing some serious heartbreaks in the NFL seasons for about two years now. First came in 2023, when the team lost the AFC Championship, while the other came just this year, when the divisional round handed them the upset. Despite such struggles, the organization is still trusting John Harbaugh, and the HC is getting the support he wanted.
To the people who are unaware, Ravens’s John Harbaugh is the second-longest tenured head coach, after Mike Tomlin, in the NFL. Starting his career from 2008 with the organization, he has taken the team through a 172-104 record along with a championship at Super Bowl XLVII in 2013. And now with consistent playoff results, the Ravens have decided to hand over a money bouquet to the HC.
Talking about the same on NFL, host Mike Yam announced, “When you got a good coach you make sure that he’s not going anywhere. Baltimore, they got one in John Harbaugh who gets an extension.” On Friday, the Ravens announced on their official social media platforms that they have reached an agreement with their HC, and they have put him under contract through the 2028 season.

Chiming in NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport shared his views on the new extension, while bringing John Harbaugh’s brother into the discussion. He expressed, “Yeah, big- time extension, lucrative extension for John Harbaugh. He gets a three-year deal. Was actually going into the last year of his deal, which can create some drama. Can create some discussion. Not like he’s in any trouble, but I’m just saying, when you’re going into the last year of your deal, there’s always a talk. And so what they did was, they ended a talk. They made him very richly paid as he has already been. My understanding for extension is actually north of his brother Jim, which should be interesting conversation at various tables during holiday time. He is now locked in through 2028.”
John Harbaugh’s brother, Jim Harbaugh, earns around an average of $16 million a year. And now that the older brother has agreed to a 3-year deal through 2028, and he clearly leveled up in comparison to his brother. Exciting news for the Ravens’ coach. That’s why, Yam also joked, “I wonder if John goes to the negotiating room and says ‘You know what, just $1 more than Jim. Just just $1 more is all I possibly need’. Possibly, well, looks like he is going to get a little bit more.” This extension definitely helped John Harbaugh to turn the tables on his younger brother!
