Things are getting heated as the NFL regular season approaches its end. The game between the Baltimore Ravens and the Philadelphia Eagles ended with a disappointing home team loss. The Raves kicker, Justin Tucker, is getting a lot of flak for it after missing three field goals in the game, and rightfully so. The result of the game could have been the opposite if those blunders didn’t happen. Coach John Harbaugh wasn’t having it after the game.

Back in 2022, Tucker became the highest-paid kicker in the league with his 4-year $24 million contract. After this game, though, many believe that the contract extension might not have been the best deal. The Ravens’ head coach was dejected after the 19-24 loss and even considered getting rid of Tucker for a moment.

John Harbaugh sends subtle shots to Justin Tucker

Sarah Ellison, the co-host of Ravens Vault took to X and shared an audible from Harbaugh. “If you’re asking me if we’re moving on from Justin Tucker, I’m not really planning on doing that right now. I don’t think that would be wise,” the Ravens HC said after the game. The initial part of the statement might make people think that Harbaugh is trying to move on. But those comments might have stemmed from heat of the moment.

The Ravens kicker can still save himself if he capitalizes on crucial opportunities in the future. Tucker has been one of the most credible kickers in the NFL for a while now. However, Tucker still has some self-reflection to do. “But, he’ll be the first to tell you he needs to make kicks. I think if you look at his history, you have to say he’s capable of doing that,” Harbaugh continued.

Both things that the Ravens head coach said stand true. It started when Tucker missed a PAT after Mark Andrews’ touchdown in the first quarter. Philadelphia was trailing 12-14 by the end of the first half and Tucker had a chance to make a 53-yard FG, but sent it wide right, missing the point. The Baltimore team could have been leading if that kick went through.

What’s your perspective on:

Should the Ravens consider moving on from Tucker, or is this just a temporary slump?

Things were even worse in the next quarter. The Ravens were scoreless in the third quarter, but that wouldn’t have been the case if Tucker had made the 47-yard FG in with 10 minutes remaining in the quarter. The kick went wide left. No good! What’s going on with the kickers this season?

Tucker is at his all-time low and is 17 of 23 with five games remaining in the season. Every kick he’s missed this season has been from over 40-yards or more. In this game, Tucker left 7 points on the table and the Ravens could have tied the game and headed to OT. Sadly, that didn’t happen, and Lamar Jackson now has another chink in his armor.

Lamar Jackson takes another shocking L

Believe it or not, Lamar Jackson used to own the NFC and still does to some extent. However, before this game, he’d only lost to the New York Giants (surprisingly) and was 23-1 against the NFC. But the Eagles changed that in the SNF game and handed him his second NFC loss of his career.

Jackson went 23 of 36 tonight and threw for 237 yards and two touchdowns. He started the first quarter on a high, throwing a 14-yard TD pass to Mark Andrews. However, he was scoreless in the next two quarters. But Jackson pulled off another score, with just 3 seconds remaining in the game. Sadly, the Ravens were still trailing 19-24 after the effort.

Coincidentally, John Harbaugh’s Ravens are headed to New York to play against the Giants, the team that handed Jackson a defeat in the 2022 season. However, the Baltimore team will have a bye week before playing New York, allowing them to return with vigor for the next game.
