“We don’t know what’s going to happen in the draft. We don’t know who’s going to be there,” said the NY Giants GM Joe Schoen in the NFL combine in Feb. Last year, they went in with 3 signal callers. But Daniel Jones and Drew Lock pulled out, forcing the HC Brian Daboll to go with Tommy DeVito. So, it was obvious they had to draft someone between Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward. But the Titans choose first, followed by the Browns. The Giants are 3rd in the draft. And they want to move to the top.
According to the NFL insider Diana Russini, the Giants are preparing a trade package for the Titans. On the March 20 episode of the Dan Patrick Show, she said, “I think the focus has always been to get a quarterback. I think they’ve aggressively called up to Tennessee to try to move up. I don’t get the sense right now out of Tennessee that they’ve made a final decision yet.” The package could have several deals from later rounds and next year as well. Exact details are not out yet.
The problem is all about the 2025 season of the Titans. All top 3 teams need a signal caller. They have two quarterbacks, Will Levis and Brandon Allen! So they also need a good, reliable quarterback. That’s a similar case with second-placed Browns, who also need a quarterback to fill Deshaun Watson’s shoes. Then comes the New York Giants. They have Tommy Devito, with a 3-5 record in 2 seasons. Sanders is the hope.

Sanders has shown positivity for the Giants, wearing their custom cleats in December, the final games of his college career. In fact, he even praised Brian Daboll, saying, “He’s a great guy, great coach, and he’s definitely a man of his family, so I like coach for sure.” They even had a handshake, sparking the rumors of a college player’s landing spot.
There’s one risk with the rookie QB. No one can really predict how they will react to the pressure. That’s why they need a veteran signal-caller as well. So, the Giants are caught between the limited choices available.

Brian Daboll confused between Russell Wilson and Joe Flacco
The Giants wanted to bring in Matthew Stafford. But the Rams managed to hold him back. So, it has come down to 2 men, Russell Wilson and Joe Flacco! Both of them even visited the Giants’ camp last week. But the issue is more about the success. The team wants someone who can lead them to success. In this metric, some fans believe Aaron Rodgers could be the key.

However, the 41-year-old was way past his prime in 2024 for the Jets. Yet, he was the only one who played all 17 games in a season. They are waiting for a confirmation from any of these 3. Diana Russini claimed that they could sign anyone between Wilson and Flacco as a backup. Brian Daboll could immensely benefit from the plan.
Russell Wilson was interested in the Giants even in the 2024 season but committed to the Steelers to prolong his career. Flacco is also 40 years old. So, he also carries the age factor. It’s a state of confusion. They need to settle the veteran depth to ensure things are fine in the most important position on the gridiron.

Whatever may be the ultimate choice is for the NY Giants, the owner John Mara is waiting. Just like the millions of other fans. He has put the power in his staff’s hands and revealed, “It’s going to be up to (GM Joe Schoen and coach Brian Daboll) to decide.” A solid test of their analytical and hiring skills!
